@ 10.00 minutes: "Clootie dumpling." Takes 3 HOURS to make - but in a microwave, 8 - 9 minutes. Beautiful!! Here's the recipe from Irvine: Ingredients: 8oz plain flour 4oz sugar Two eggs, beaten 1 heaped teaspoon mixed spice 1 heaped teaspoon cinnamon 1 teaspoon bicarbonate of soda 8oz butter 8oz sultanas 4oz currants 4oz raisins 1 tablespoon of treacle 1/2 pint water Method: Put the water, sugar, mixed spice, cinnamon, dried fruit, butter, and the treacle into a pot. Bring to the boil, and simmer for a couple of minutes. Remove from the heat and mix in the flour and bicarbonate of soda. Add 2 beaten eggs. Pour the mixture into a large microwave bowl which is lined with cling-film - to go well over the sides. Don’t cover the dumpling mixture with the cling-film. Cook in the microwave on full power for 8 - 9 minutes. Leave to set in the bowl for 20 minutes before transfering to a plate.

Incredible! My favorite video of yours...EVER! Hands down! This was so heart warming & amazing from beginning to end! It was also so wonderful to see you & Alicja together again in this enchanting Christmas adventure...from last year no less! You & Alicja are truly a 'dynamic duo" & are so sweet together! The sweet dynamic & rapport you have together is just so endearing & very special! Please don't ever change! Strathardle Lodge is such a magical place with such a beautiful ambience! It matches you both perfectly! No wonder Alicja didn't want to leave & you want to return so much! I would love to see that too! Please do! Then, after the wonderful time spent there, only you Steve, could be passing by at the exact moment when such a cute horse & Shetland Pony were playing, frolicking & rolling in the snow! Amazing! That was also the sweetest thing! After this, once again, we see your funny sense of humor! When you remarked that you were lost & so now would just have to stay there & build a log cabin. LOL. As well as, the 'Christmas Past" clip in black & white of you with the Antler headband on & Alicja wearing the Santa hat wishing us a Merry Christmas. Hilarious & very sweet! As well as... brilliant! Indeed! Thank you for sharing this delightful Christmas experience! The sweetest & best Christmas video on YT! Christmas blessings to both you & Alicja! God bless us every one!

In my childhood in the 1950s, we used to drive from home (in the English West Country) to the village of Glenkindie on Donside (not far from Strathdon) to visit my grandmother. Our route took us up Glenshee and up the Devil's Elbow. This was very dramatic, especially in a second-hand pre-war car! Haven't been that way for decades, so it was wonderful to see the road (even without the Devil's Elbow) in your beautiful video. The scenery was stunning and the light was fantastic. Another stunner, Steve and Alicja! Oh, and what a find Strathardle Lodge was. Wishing you a very happy Christmas and looking forward to more wonderful videos in the New Year!

Australian here. It is is pretty and it reminds me of my winters as a child, and the excitement of seeing snow, even if it was just a dusting. I come from a mountainous region called the New England. It is quite apt as a name as it does look a lot like parts of England, but at a similar altitude to the Scottish Highlands (but sadly without the lochs). But I have to say I prefer our summery Christmases. I think you tend to love what you grow up with. I am in Sydney now, and it can get hot at Christmas, but for me I think the climate in the New England of NSW is probably almost perfect. It tends to warm to but not too hot, and cools down at night. When we have had a good season of rain, it can also be very green. I would like to experience a white Christmas once, but for the rest of the time I love Christmas in summer.

In the eyes of a Vancouverite, with the large amount of snow in such a short time, the past few days and all the motorists stuck on the roads, spinouts etc. I would envey to join you there. Although with a large amount of rain predicted in the region and the consequences of slush taking place, this makes the perfect vlog to stay at home to watch and enjoy in the warm comfort of our homes. Again Steve and Alicja thank you very much for your entertaining trips this past year, I am sure all of your subscribers appreciate it very much. When we worked in Scotland as Caravan club wardens we had a recommendation from 1 of our members to visit the hotel/motel at the spital of Glenshee for one of their hot beef sandwiches, on our day off we went there and what a feast that was for a very reasonable cost. I think this hotel was destroyed in a fire but it wasn't just the building that was lost, the information and local knowledge that the people passed on to us in a short time was amazing and we in turn told many of our future guests about it and we never had anyone say that they didn't enjoy their experience.

A few years ago (4?) there was a faily heavy snowfall in Edinburgh. So I got the gear on and walked up Calton Hill - around midnight. Transformed, it was - 15cms of snow, still falling but not a lot of wind. Made a brew, had a glass of Merlot (hiking tip - a good wine weighs just the same as a bad wine) and bivvied out. And at 8 in the morning, the building crew was up fixing the Observatory. That is what snow can do even to an urban environment.
