Its a charming city, but for us it would be best used as a day trip from Tirana and not for an extended stay. If the beaches were in better condition, perhaps our opinion would be different

I'm glad you mentioned the smoking culture, because that is a deal- breaker for me, to be honest. Thanks for letting us non-smokers know!

Please enjoy eating out in the traditional Albanian restaurants, they have farm to table concepts. The seafood and pizza / pasta is amazing too! Eat out in restaurants more frequently, it’s worth it.

Albanian language is older than Greek or Latin or Turkish. Albania language actually has words that these other languages have borrowed and not the other way around. Albanian language has an extremely rich vocabulary and is very melodic sounding.

No language in world is older than others lmao. So when we were Speaking Albanian what were Greeks doing? Waffling & speaking in sign language lol? There's languages that are more archaic yes, or older in certain regions
@blackcat.19
@blackcat.19 2 ай бұрын
@@MikelJackson-d8r it clearly shows that you don’t understand the region or have any knowledge of indo-European languages. Greek is an artificial creation by the Eastern Orthodox Church in the middle of 19th century. Greeks of today don’t speak the langue of the ancient people because they speak the technical langue of the church which was artificially created. The ancient people spoke pelasgian/Illyrian dialects and not the Greek of today. Also Albania is older than what you call Greek today and actually, Albanian is the mother language of the what you call Greek today. But when you are feed lies and propaganda for political reasons then you only build a house of lies that over time crumble.

Albanian language is often thought to have been an Illyrian language for obvious geographic and historical reasons as well as for some linguistic evidence, or otherwise an unmentioned Balkan Indo-European language that was closely related to Illyrian and Messapic. Messapic is considered the closest language to Albanian, grouped in a common branch titled Illyric in Hyllested & Joseph (2022) Albanian is the oldest language that is still used today (Science, 2023) Albanian is the most similar language (alive) to Messapic and Dacian wich are Illyrian languages. Over its history, Albanian has been influenced by contact with neighboring languages like Greek, Latin, Slavic, and Turkish, which have contributed loanwords and other linguistic elements. Today, Albanian is the official language of Albania and Kosovo, and is also spoken in Macedonia, Montenegro, and parts of Greece. It is divided into two main dialects, Gheg in the north and Tosk in the south, which have some differences in pronunciation, vocabulary, and grammar. Illyria can be referred to as ancient Albania as its center was located in modern-day Albania. In addition, many historians argue that modern Albanians are descendants of the ancient Illyrians. While they were centered in Albania, the Illyrian tribes were spread throughout the Balkan Peninsula. Albanoi - Illyrian tribe where Albania 🇦🇱 got the name they lived in Albanopolis the main city which is situated in the middle of today Albania. Albanian territories were inhabited since 100,000 years ago. The 🇦🇱 varieties are endangered in the settlements: the Albanian language of Zara, the Albanian language of Mandrica in Bulgaria, Arvanitika, the language of the Albanians in Ukraine are all dying languages - languages that are no longer spoken by children". The name Albanian has been found in records since the time of Ptolemy. In Calabrian Albanian the name is Arbresh, in Modern Greek Arvanítis, and in Turkish Arnaut; the name must have been transmitted early through Greek speech. The official language, written in a standard roman-style orthography adopted in 1909, was based on the south Gheg dialect of Elbasan from the beginning of the Albanian state until World War II and since has been modelled on Tosk. Before 1909 the little literature that was preserved was written in local makeshift Italianate or Hellenizing orthographies or even in Turko-Arabic characters. A few brief written records are preserved from the 15th century, the first being a baptismal formula from 1462. Albanian language has some loaned words from Ancient Greek, Latin, Romanian wich reflect special historical contacts of early date. In a recent scientific study using sophisticated methods: concluded scientific evidence that both the Albanian people and the Albanian language are at least 8000 years old and indigenous to these lands. 🇦🇱👐🏼🦅
