This SHOCKING EXPOSED COFFIN FOUND IN AN OPEN CRYPT! While doing a cemetery / graveyard tour we found a rarely seen metal coffin dating back in history to the mid-1800s (19th century). Sadly this crypt has fallen into disrepair and we need your help getting the info out to reach the family or get the cemetery to do the right thing and fix this. We are calling on all of our Genealogy experts and concerned people to help get the word out about this abandoned and forgotten grave.

Glad to see your taking off in different directions, such as cemeteries. Not that I don't like the metal detecting, but cemeteries have so much history also, and there seems to be so many lost in time, and new discoveries.

I went to high school with a Hill from Oglethorpe, but he passed away about 2 or 3 years ago. I don't have any contact with his family. He had a younger brother that I knew, but haven't spoken to him in 25 years.

On something like this would you have to be a direct descendant to get it done or just a relative? Why I am asking is because I have a 2nd Great Grand Uncle who died during the Civil War and he had no kids since he died so young. His name is incorrect on his grave. He is in the Nashville National Cemetery. I am looking into getting it corrected.
@HistorySeekers
@HistorySeekers 3 жыл бұрын
I believe it would either need to be direct or closest living relatives. It can get tricky depending on how many are living. No easy answer there.

@@HistorySeekers Most likely not. Before and after the war it was common to name your children after someone who you admired or was famous. For example my 2x great great uncle was named Benjamin Franklin West. One of my fourth great grand uncles was named George Washington Hollingsworth. After the war one of the common names for a son was Robert Lee after General Robert Edward Lee.
