I left almost a year ago and just had my first time celebrating Thanksgiving and Christmas! I got the prettiest Christmas tree and tons of gifts for my husband, myself and my whole family. I feel so blessed now and will never go back.

Talking about writing the society about teachings, there was a great book called Beyond the Watchtower now out of print that was full of such letters and watchtower's replies. I read it as I was quitting, it was fascinating.

On meeting giggles; one time during the watchtower study my sister and I were sitting with 2 of our friends and someone farted. And my sister was mid comment, trying to quote the scriptures “these words must prove to be on your heart” but she said “these words must prove to be on your fart” and we 4 kids couldn’t stop laughing the rest of the study.

I remember dropping a book. I think I was in the 3rd grade at the time. My friend and I couldn't stop laughing. We were trying to be quiet but it just wouldn't end. I was with her parents and sisters and I know her father was embarrassed but eh, I wish it were a fart, it would have made all the pompous phoney embarrassment worth it.

Blacks in the 1980's who smoke Marijuana were thrown in jail and given long sentences. Blacks were told "Don't do drugs." Come 30 years later, White folks got hooked on marijuana and other drugs at a massive level. (Deuteronomy 16:18; 19:12; 21:1, 2) Thus, Jesus was showing that a person who harbors smoldering wrath against his brother is committing a serious sin. Jesus next said that a person who “addresses his brother with an unspeakable word of contempt will be accountable to the Supreme Court.” The Greek word rha·kaʹ (footnote) rendered “an unspeakable word of contempt” means “empty” or “empty-headed.” According to The New Thayer’s Greek-English Lexicon of the New Testament, that word was “a term of reproach used by the Jews in the time of Christ.” Jesus was thus warning against the seriousness of expressing hatred toward a countryman with a derogatory term of contempt. Jesus was as much as saying that a person using such a word would be judged not just by a local court but by the Supreme Court, the full Sanhedrin​-the judicial body in Jerusalem made up of the high priest and 70 older men and scribes.​-Mark 15:1. Finally, Jesus explained that if a person addresses another, “You despicable fool!” he would be liable to the fiery Gehenna. The word “Gehenna” comes from the Hebrew words geh hin·nomʹ, meaning “valley of Hinnom,” which lay to the west and south of ancient Jerusalem. In Jesus’ day, the valley had become a place for burning refuse, including the bodies of vile criminals who were considered undeserving of a decent burial. So the word “Gehenna” was a fitting symbol of complete destruction. What, then, did the expression “despicable fool” signify? The word used here sounded similar to a Hebrew term that means “rebellious,” or “mutinous.” It designates a person as morally worthless, an apostate and a rebel against God. So the person addressing his fellow as a “despicable fool” is as much as saying that his brother should receive a punishment fit for a rebel against God, everlasting destruction. From God’s standpoint, the one uttering such a condemnation against another could merit that severe sentence​-everlasting destruction-​himself.​-Deuteronomy 19:17-19. Consequently, Jesus was setting a higher standard for his followers than that found in the principles behind the Mosaic Law. While people believed that a murderer would be “accountable to the court of justice,” Jesus went further. He taught that his followers should avoid even harboring animosity against their brothers.​-Matthew 5:21, 22.

I think I know what it was that set your father off giggling. It was this: "Let those who are under the yoke of slavery keep on considering their owners worthy of full honor, so that the name of God and the teaching may never be spoken of injuriously." - 1 Timothy 6:1, NWT (silver sword edition) This has got to be one of the funniest verses in the Bible. It's an example of stunning irony and self-fulfilling prophecy. In this one verse, the writer managed to accomplish the very thing he says he's writing the verse to avert. No God inspired this. The title for the most hypocritical verse in the Bible goes to 1 John 3:17. The writer says you don't have the love of God in you if you fail to help those in need when you can. That writer wasn't thinking because he unwittingly exposed his god as the biggest hypocrite. Who sees all those in need and suffering more than his god? Who has the power to help all those in need if not his god? And yet his god does nothing. His god see all who are in need; has all the power in the universe to help them; but does nothing. So according to that verse, God has no love of God in himself. lol.

hey! if you have never eaten a habanero pepper, i would not suggest eating it whole or even biting off a big chunk of it. about twenty years ago a friend gave me a bunch of them that she had grown in her garden. she warned me that they are extremely hot and not to bite into it. she also said that after just handling the pepper to thoroughly wash my hands. i took her advice. i only cut a tiny bit off the bottom and put it in my mouth. it was the hottest thing i ever put in my mouth and i like hot and spicy foods! two hours later, i was still trying to cool my tongue. i literally kept the tip of my tongue in the glass of milk. recently, i bought a jar of olives that were stuffed with habanero pepper and after eating only one, i was sweating quite a bit. even though the heat was not as intense, i still had to drink some milk and eat a slice of bread.
