When I was a young JW they told us sisters not to marry anyone who wasn’t spiritually progressing and my husband literally got baptized to marry me. Now his brother who didn’t get baptized never has to worry about getting shunned by their parents but my husband does. I feel so bad about it but they had to coerce young men and now it looks like they’re bribing them with positions. It’s so manipulative. Imagine taking a 21 year old kid and burdening him with the responsibilities of an elder. Bad for the congregation and bad for the young man. It just makes me sick.

My husband was baptized in his late 50's, after I had been in the organization for decades. They immediately gave him multiple responsibilities, reading WT or book studies, prayers at meetings, put him in charge of KH security (he is an LEO in his day job), put him in charge of the book and magazine counter, etc etc. They are truly desperate for men in the organization. That being said he knew all along they were full of it. He only got baptized for family unity, as I had raised the kids to be witnesses and they had all grown up and moved out but were all still witnesses and it was just going to be the 2 of us at home. My generation is not nearly as studious as the older ones and we certainly do not have a grasp of the “deeper” WT concepts. Haven't scanned the comments too much so maybe someone else has mentioned this, but the average life expectancy in first century middle east was around 35 years of age. This was a culture that married off girls as soon as they got their periods, as they were already nearing middle age by then. So for the boys and men...... Early 20s was very much considered an older man. Hek, if you made it to your 20s without dying in childbirth or having some horrific farming accident, you were doing OK. So the older men were really...... Not very old in modern terms.

In my opinion the "new helpers' will be a mix of A.I., men and lawyers who preside over judicial meetings in realtime video/online form and such from Warwick. They are going to take all judicial matters away from the local bodies of Elders. There will be a lot less legal exposure this way. This is why corporate wants the young men to take on the role of servants or "helper's'. As mentioned in your video, they will computer savy, won't know the past, and can be easily molded into whatever the GB wants them to be. The technology of today and the future will dictate what kind of organization corporate operates.

When I as a kid, I hated going to the meetings, but I actually liked going to book study. Easy to understand why; a lot of the hosts would give out treats for the kids and the environment felt a lot more relaxed. I also really enjoyed "hospitality" which was essentially a pot luck for the book study groups. They have done away with so much of the actual fellowship in the organization... it's really sad, but not really a surprise when you are out and realize how rotten this cult is at its core.

In English, the word "Elder" by its very nature implies that the person is an older person. The word brings to mind a paternal or grandfatherly figure who has acquired wisdom through life experience. In any other context, a village, tribal or Clan Elder would likely never be associated with anyone below the age of 30.... Why Watchtower thinks having someone in their early twenties be an "Elder" makes little sense....

The organization has moved down the age limit because they are working on the immaturity of young men. Most Elders and M.S.’s have nothing jobs, and what I mean when I say that is they are not positions of authority, they are either just factory workers or they are gardeners, window washers, painters, etc…, and once they get a position of “Elder”, their heads get big and they get lofty. So, the organization thinks “..well if we make the age requirement even younger, then we can capitalize on the young men staying because they now have sense of power and authority.

I figured that the Governing Body - or someone they chose - could give a public talk or a meeting part, and show the video of it at every Kingdom Hall around the world. That way, every single JW would be getting the exact same “spiritual food.” Then, along came Covid, and along came Zoom. Now, Watchtower is, pretty much, strictly an online religion.

He was ALWAYS trying to trick me into being alone with him in their house. My parents used to stand on guard for me just to be able to go to the bathroom because of him 🤮 Later, our groups moved, but there was always tension you could sense in the house from the hosts. Maybe they always addressed everyone like children (even while exposing children to age-inappropriate violence and sexual matters, but that's a whole other topic), and I didn't notice because I *was* a child, but it's pretty insulting. The other weird thing is this new emotional fervor and sentimental tone things have. Some of the videos, my brain expects to hear "A message from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints" at the end, they're that sappy 😅I left in the early 00s and culturally, it's becoming unrecognizable in a lot of ways. Things really do change so fast in the WT Org, it reminds me of that scripture about being blown about by every shifting wind of doctrine. I haven't even listened to the whole video I just watched the first part where you're reading out of the yearbook. This makes me so angry. We all know Christ didn't even get baptized until he was 30 so for someone in their early to mid-20s to become an elder is absolutely ridiculous! Doesn't it sound quite familiar does anybody hear the word Mormon?

Just thinking here in regards to the book studies at homes that was taken away could be maybe because of the child abuse that was happening ? Who knows but I personally always wondered why they changed it and started it in halls instead.

Gonna state the obvious here ( at least it seems the "obvious" to me anyway ) but it would make sense what you said about future witness beliefs Wally. If the core witness beliefs are false then for the organization to continue existing it would need to drop the 1914 teaching altogether and not use "time based" beliefs any longer or set up a whole new time line for when the "end" should make its appearance. I mean what other direction could they go in regarding teachings?

For me the new NWT, new songbook and phasing out of the book study all felt like the beginnings of the major shift that resulted in the televangelist cult they've become. Maybe that just says more about my waking up timeline than anything else. By the by, are my parents the only suckers that have a cart permanently outside their front door or is that something they do now?

Regional convention vs District Eliminating the District Overseer WT taking all KHs by force and then selling them I see the move of appointment of younger males as a way to keep them in the organization. Give them a taste of power and authority.

wally the reason why they stopped book studies at the homes was because it was dangerous and there was no way to have an "attendant to care for the friends:.

Plus at the book study we could have more honest conversations about what we may disagree with and they can’t have that. On top of having goodie night. They always preached how you need to be close to your book study group because that’s who you’d go through Armageddon with. Now I guess you have to have large easier to find groups 🤷🏻♂️. The whole thing is weird. And the whole jw broadcasting I could never stand but I wasn’t a very good jw from the time I got married.

The number of steps they have taken to intentionally limit people's chances to do thier own research is alarming. Now with the videos, people don't have to do any of thier own research for talk, witnessing, ect. It's all fed to them through videos and small snippets of information so while they're being told "you are making the truth your own" and "you are the only religion that actually knows what the Bible says" they are being heavily discouraged from doing thier own research. Talk about sheep being skinned and thrown about by oppressive Wolves n all that.

It scares me that "Get ready to be A elder" is actually starting to sound normal to me. After years of watching American youtube videos and listening to American podcasts, the non-use of the word "an" is now actually starting to normalise for me. That terrifies me. When did Americans collectively, as a nation forget that the word "an" exists???
