Have you ever wondered how old your favorite Disney characters actually are in the movies? Sure - plenty of our favorite characters seem like their ages would be fairly obvious. Yet, there are plenty whose ages may surprise you, and some might even change how you feel about the Disney films they’re a part of. You may have seen Hercules plenty of times, but knowing the age gap between the titular hero and his love interest, Meg, puts the movie in a different light. Many characters in Beauty and the Beast have ages that truly perplex us. And, even though he’s a mythical creature, the Genie from Aladdin is still older than we expected… much older. It’s also surprising to learn that some of the characters undergoing truly harrowing experiences in the movies in which they star are actually only kids. Alice is much younger than you’d expect when she visits Wonderland, as is Mulan when she fights for China. And, even though Peter Pan famously vowed to never grow up, we could have seen a version of his movie where he did grow up, after all. If you never considered Disney characters’ ages before, we have a feeling you will after watching this video. In beauty and the beast time stopped while he was the beast and the staff were items around the house. That's why it was supposedly winter outside the castle, but not everywhere else. Time still continued outside the castle. Also I personally think that Ms. Potts is chip's grandmother. It's just that chip's parents left or died while he was born maybe and Ms. Potts took care of him. Which is why chip calls her mama. And that's your beauty and the breasts questions answered!

These Disney princesses' ages make sense also through the context of their settings. Saying "Mulan should be learning geometry at 16" or Snow White "should've been in high school", makes no sense. High school? In the middle ages? Learning geometry in 400-600 AD China? At 14-16 people were considered mostly fully grown/viable adults for the majority of human history. The concept of adolescence has expanded over the last 100 years, and so the further back in time you go the more you'll see writers craft stories reflective of these cultural residues. Snow White is a fantastic example of this! The original Snow White was written in 1812 and her character was 7 years old. The Disney adaptation was released in 1937, which changed her age to 14 years old in order to modernize her age for societal standards. If you create Snow White in the 1980s, she'd probably be 16... whereas if you create her in 2024 she's like 20. Pretty basic concept in humanities, but when you critique art from different periods cultural context needs to be understood. Sleeping Beauty (1958), Aurora is 16 and Phillip was 20. Nobody was going to bat an eye at a 20 year old dating a 16 year old in the 1950s, particularly within a narrative based in the middle ages. In 2024 if you present this age gap you'll hear words like "groomer", "creepy", etc. it's lame to critique art from nearly 100 years ago through a modern lens with the sole purpose of degrading it.

Okay mate.. Let me answer one easy question! In Le belle et le bete.. Or beauty and the beast.. Chip calls Mrs Potts Mama.. And I can explain why in two ways! Back then (around the 1600-1800 of which the original is set in) It wasnt off for women to have children well into their 40-50's.. The second way this is possible.. ADOPTION! It also existed, in fact its always been around just never mentioned often.. Mrs Potts could of never had children of her own, and there fore, took in a young needing boy into her life and called him her SON as he would be raised as such.. As an adopted person with parents 48 years older than me.. Both ways.. Are possible. I know from experience. So that answers the question around the 2:10 time mark
