Thank you for your valuable information, Ms. Mary! In fact, I can see relevance to a general public who travel anywhere in the world. Having a well thought plan for healthcare before leaving your place of residence to go abroad is critical in my judgement. You are doing a great public service with your posting, especially for others who might be simply taking "a cruise" to somewhere. Having a plan for emergency healthcare seems more than prudent. It could be a nightmare not to have it!

Ms. Mary thank you for the content in your video, well done. FYI I'm a Federal retiree myself and have Foreign Service Benefit Plan (FSBP) for my health insurance. You should check out this company during the next enrollment period and see if you can switch insurance plans. I haven't moved to Panama as of yet but getting ready. I recently spoke with the FSBP agents and there are four hospitals in Panama City that accept FSBP and direct bill. The hospitals are Centro Medico Paitilla, Hospital San Fernando, Hospital Nacional and Hospital Punta Pacifica. I hope this helps you.

Excellent information. Thank you. This is a case of failing to plan, which equals planning to fail. Some of the situations you mentioned occur right here in the US, especially in the more rural areas. In my research on Panama, there seems to be a two-tier system for everything: private and public. You get what you pay for. If you can afford to go private, then do so.

Thank you Mary for information. I have seen similar scenarios here in the US . 911 call does not automatically result in transport to the ER.
@Marysseasonedexpatlife5 ай бұрын
@@mariabarnes4962 it’s not the same because they can actually take you if needed, the ones here have to call someone else to transport you
@amarie33094 ай бұрын
As a nurse in the US I can attest that calling 911 does not guarantee transport. I have all my ducks in a row and I’ve had to advocate that this person needs to go. It’s because the transport people are the low man on the totem pole and the hospital may not want to accept the patient when delivered

our 911 in Louisiana is similar. They assess first then if they deem you need to go to ER they will transport. Also when they have to transport from stairs they often use a transport chair. I HAVE TONS of experience with USA 911 due to a 96 year old mom that lives with me. ALSO in the USA if medicare determines you didn't NEED to be transported and you took transport anyway they will bill you $1500... yes medicare.... so many people buy an annual ambulance service via a private company here called Acadia Ambulance

I have not heard of anyone using Medicare for health benefits but maybe that’s a question for Medicare directly
@mtngrl58594 ай бұрын
If you have Medicare Advantage-that is the only Medicare that pays out of the US- there is coverage for emergencies not regular care. Often you have to pay first & be compensated by Medicare. Best to have travelers ins & then get compensated from Medicare.
