In this video I shed some light on a long forgotten Swiss watch brand called Technos. This brand was established in 1900 in Switzerland and is still making watches today.
I have a vintage watch store.....check out the some awesome watches which you can buy today! Most have been featured on my channel.

MY OTHER KZbin CHANNEL
I Like Watches 2 - / @ilikewatches2
WHY I OFTEN DON'T MENTION OTHER BRANDS IN MY VIDEOS.
You may have noticed that I often don't mention the original brands that watches I am reviewing pay homage to. This is very intentional and not meant to offend you or the original brands. I lost my first channel in October 2020 which I had spent 9 months growing and invested a significant amount of money in simply because I had mentioned the original brands in some of my videos. There are people who try to use KZbins lack of understanding when it comes to the difference between homage watches and fake watches to attack other channels and their owners and sadly I fell foul of this in 2020. This channel was also attacked recently and KZbin deleted content simply because I had said 'subby homage' and 'Rolex homage' in two videos despite the watches in the videos being perfectly legal homage watches. Please understand that I can not afford to risk my channel so I will no longer be mentioning other brands when reviewing homage watches.

That is such a score! My type of watch all day long. I’ve worked on ETA28## high beats. I did one recently on a Zenith 2832 and from what I could gather it was a movement made solely for Zenith so this one in the Technos could be the same arrangement.

What a cool find! And a Hi-beat movement as well! This brings back memories. My parents took a trip to Brazil in the mid-70's and brought back a bunch of cool mineral stones for their nerdy teenage kid, including a huge hunk of tiger eye. Thanks for sharing!

Any 36000a/h movement is a lovely thing to put to your ear. My only example is a Zodiac cal 82 (that has a A.Schild base movement). I do worry about the lubrication/servicing, but the timegrapher shows it running lovely since purchase 2 yrs ago. Modern lube is better & longer lasting, I'm told.

That's a very nice looking watch Gary. There's actually an Orient Tristar watch with that kind of pattern though different colours. This even has the 3 stars at the bottom like the Orient! I did find some Technos watches with this case and different dial dated 1970 so it might be about right. However there's a Chronograph with the same case shape dated 1985, but it's slightly different so I think around 1970 for this may be about right. Thanks for showing us this one!

Nice watch and a great mini-review as you stated that there isn't much info on it but done well all the same. I have Seiko Lord Marvel from 1974 which has a manual wind hi-beat movement beating at 36,000 vph. I really love that model because it measures at 35mm and has 19mm lugs so it wears perfectly on my 7" wrist. Enjoy and thanks for sharing.

Wow.. for a moment I thought I was looking at my Osaki automatic - similar overall look with slightly more protruding lugs (37mm x 40mm lug to lug). Guess that was a trend at the time. Your vid started me down the rabbit hole of finding out if somehow Osaki and Technos were connected (couldn't get to the bottom of that). My Osaki has a Swiss AS 2066 movement - smooth second hand and just titled 'automatic' - though your Technos appears to be just that bit smoother. Nice looking Chronos. Sole bit that gets me is that the 70's bracelets can be quite loosey-goosey - at least in the few I've taken a punt on..

Hi there! Great review. As you know, it's hard to find information about this brand or specific models. I just got my first Technos Kaiser. It also says "waterproof" on the back which changed to "resist" on most brands in late 1970. Have you had any luck determining the production date of Technos? Is there a website or have you deciphered that serial number to mean anything?

Interesting watch 👍 . I like the case and dial, but the crystal! I would just put it on a nice leather strap, much better than an incorrect bracelet. I wonder if the fact that the majority of the Swiss watch industry gave up on 5 Hz movements indicates there were reliability issues.

What should it be for this movement? It’s not the same for all automatics, some movements need higher and some lower…what is the factory tolerances for this particular movement?
@HeliBenj
@HeliBenj Жыл бұрын
@@ilikewatches 36000 movements generally show slightly lower amplitude than low beats so I wouldn’t be surprised if this ETA left the factory at 250 degrees +/- 15 degrees on a full wind. Anything less than 220 on a full wind is an indication of dried up oil or other issues. You can also see that your Timegrapher trace is not clean. This is way too low by any measure with probably gunk lubricant in the jewels and in the mainspring barrel. You cannot expect a 50 years watch to perform well regardless of usage if not serviced correctly. This watch is going to wear itself up without lubrication in fairly short order as it runs a high beat and high torque to counteract the comparatively strong balance spring needed for these movements. So yeah the hands might be ticking at it might even keep good time but this is not a healthy movement. Strange to me that watch enthusiasts are so drawn to automatic watches because their movement is cool but often neglect the maintenance part. I know you have an interest as you sell these watches, but please don’t sell it as “running perfectly” because that would be misleading and disappointing for the buyer when it starts failing. It just needs a service “hopefully” because the last fresh lubricants it has seen were decades ago. I do services on all kind of Japanese movements and often frustrated that people don’t recognize the value of a services watch were they offer the same amount for a freshly serviced watch running perfectly as they would on a barely running one… I like your channel, but being able to clean the case and polish a case doesn’t make a watch of this type a restored watch and the knowledge of the state of the movement that your Timegrapher allows should prompt the accompanying disclaimer about the need for a service at the very least
@murph8411
@murph8411 Жыл бұрын
@@ilikewatches156 is lower than anything I’ve heard of. In fact anything below 200 is usually seen as at the very least in need of attention. I can’t recall seeing any movements with an amplitude of below 200 as recommended.
