I think the standard is so ridiculously high that it becomes almost impossible to predict. Andrew Gilding was unknown until he won the Open, Humphries became the World Champion then had a horrendous spell, MVG is allegedly the goat but he has been stuck on the farm for two years, 16 year olds without pubic hair beating the best 7 in the world.... Experience tells us that either Price, Anderson or Wright should win, but where have they been? Price had a 12-month average of over 99 last season - just shy of Anderson this year, but has gone off the boil. Too many inconsistencies at the top of the table to make accurate predictions. But in all honesty, I don't have favourites. Doesn't matter if 127th in the world or 1st in the table hits a 9 darter or a big fish, it's all exciting as hell to watch!

Rock v Anderson final as Rock has been bang on form for last 3 months winning a European title along the way and Anderson has been very good for the last 12-18 months and I think this is the tournament he has a good run. As for the winner between rock and Anderson I’m going to say ando to win it and it’ll be his last major that he wins

I have Josh rock as my dark horse. Been very good this year on euro tours and pro tours as well as the World Cup. Also, his side is open as Price and Noppert are in bad form and I think Woodhouse will beat Aspinall so it’s completely open for him to have a run to the semis

I think the main goal from MVG is to beat Littler in that first game. After that, nothing else matters, he will go home happy even if he loses in the second round.

After the draw drew up a chart and ended up with Bunting v Gurney and Dolan v Anderson semi finals and a Bunting v Anderson final with Bunting winning! 70% heart and 30% brain used lol.

Matt Im off to the matchplay with 7 mates of mine, and we all have different outcomes for the day I think mvg will beat littler am hoping Anderson beats bully boy as he's my favourite of all time but Ryan Searle could have a great run this year I think

MVG has been out of form this year but we all know he can still turn up at any given time and hit one of his crazy averages and beat anyone. No guarantee Littler wins that but if he does then he will likely get to the semis or final.

Dmitri record in blackpool is amazing, he makes the QF imo Price out of form is a myth, but regardless it's josh rock who makes the SF Woodhouse makes the QF Dobey makes the QF where he loses to Cross, though I can see Dobey making the SF as well After all the entertainment in the world though, we'll still end up with a luke v luke final where humphries comes out on top

A lot of 50/50 games. I don’t understand the Gurney run. His results aren’t that special this year. Only 500 pounds above Price in the OoM of 2024. I don’t see the Wade run happen either. Lucky he has qualified and i guess that will show in his display at the Matchplay. i think Noppert as former UK open winner is more underrated then former World Grandprix runners-up Dolan. Both really consistent trough the years, but Noppert a stable factor into the top 16 without seriously getting mentioned. His World Championship results might have something to do with it. I see him reach the semi-finals again. Woodhouse has come from behind a lot of games this year, to win it in a decider. I don’t think that against the best players in the world he will get away with it in the Matchplay. So Aspinall wins that first round, to suffer defeat in the second round against Noppert.

Matt, you keep saying that - but it's not true. It's not the top 16 of the two-year ranking against the top 16 of the one-year ranking. Only 6 of the unseeded players are in the top 16 of the one-year ranking and not a single one is in the top 5 of the one-year ranking. I understand why people sometimes simplify things, but here I wonder if you think the majority of us don't understand the qualifying concept. Because: you just can't say it like that, rather that the unseeded are the best of the rest based on a one-year ranking. The way you keep saying it makes it sound like the unseeded players are the ones who are in better form.

I totally agree with you. Most of the top 16 of the OoM are also in the top 16 of the ProTour OoM so the argument that Matt gives is at least misleading.
