ELPO Instructor Jake Keller walk you through a common farrier process on shoeing a horse. As an example of how this process would be approached if someone was taking their practical shoeing exam with the ELPO (Equine Lameness Prevention Organzation), Jake talks about the steps you need to consider, how to communicate what you see with your examiner, and how you use your understanding of the anatomy, the foot, and the biomechanics of the foot to best serve each animal. There is a ton of great insight and explanation by Jake and even if you are a seasoned farrier or a hoof care novice, this video will give you very common sense approach to shoeing a horse. There are many processes and protocols that Jake uses in his explanations and more detail for each of these can be found at www.lamenessprevention.org or in many of the other videos on our channel. Please consider subscribing to this channel and possibly joining the ELPO for even more in-depth and educational content.
