Great helmet, love it. Got mine about a month and a half ago in gloss silver. Really comfortable, hard to go wrong with Shoei. Expensive but worth it.

I ride in a Roof Boxer V8 and love it. When I'm riding slowly through the city in humidity, it's good to be able to convert it to an open-face helmet while on the go. At any speed, though, I have it in the full-face position.

Modular helmets are great for that!

@@MotoJournoKris Not all modular helmets convert into an open-face, though.

JUST came from a Sunday morning drive, checking out the many flea markets people are having in their driveways. This one woman had a lot of "man stuff" for sale. She said her husband died, so she was getting rid of things she will never use. I spotted a white Shoei box on the shelf in the back of the garage and asked her if she drove a motorcycle, she said no, and then said that helmet back there was for her, but she refused to get on her husband's bike because he drove too fast. I asked if I could take a look at the helmet, but she said, right away, that she was going to give that helmet to the Salvation Army because it's worthless since it's almost 10 years old and nobody wants a 10-year-old helmet. I pulled the Shoei box down and was surprised that it has never been opened. On the side it said GT-AIR- Large. I opened it and was blown away because it was white, and blue, with red accents, the EXACT same colors as my 1999 Suzuki GSXR-750 and I also have 2 matching Tecnics racing suits, one full suit with perforations and the other 2 piece for colder riding, both with white, blue and red accents, racing gloves are color matched, racing boots are also color matched...I'm 63 years old and really enjoy the look of everything color matched, but I own a GREY Shoei helmet that is so old, the padding is breaking down, but it's so dam comfortable, I just don't want to give it up. Here's the good part, she thinks that the Salvation Army will put a price tag of 50 dollars on it, so she said I could have it for 50 dollars BUT I also had to drive to the coffee shop and bring her back a large double double … Haha.... I DID bring her a coffee, by the way. Everything was in the box of course, The protective bag, 2 Shoei stickers, the silicone gel, the manual, the PINLOCK antifog shield, the chin air blocker, the antifog attachment that goes below the visor on the inside. I have to say, that helmet even had that new smell to it. Nobody in the house smoked, and the garage was heated. I'm here in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada .. I wonder if anybody can guess what the Canadian price of that helmet would have been when it was sold new?

That's a great find, the original GT-Air is an awesome helmet. Perhaps even better than this second version!

please give a shout after some time now , do u have any bad thing to say about it ? or if u can make a video about it after some time of use ?
@MotoJournoKris Жыл бұрын
I'm going to do an update video shortly, just haven't had the time yet, as I've done quite a few thousand km with it now. That said I don't think the GT-Air 2 lives up to the reputation of the original, which was an amazing helmet.

It does look good with your bike. You were saying ECE is a must which I do agree. That said, what’s your thoughts on FIM certifications?
@MotoJournoKris Жыл бұрын
From what I remember FIM should be similar to the newer ECE standard, however the Shoei GT Air-2 is the older ECE standard, 22.05 I think. The NXR2 was the newer standard 22.06, so that probably makes more sense if you want optimal protection especially at the track.

Love my GT-Air, I decided not to go with the Air-II because I much prefer a double d ring style chin strap. Can't stand the new ratcheting ones personally

The original is so good, if they'd had one in a really snazzy colour for a good price, I'd probably have picked that up instead...

I just rode for the first time yesterday with my GT Air 2 and I do not find the chin strap comfortable at all
@MotoJournoKris Жыл бұрын
@@BBD40 Yea I'm having the same issue. On my Neotec you could angle it away from your neck, but it doesn't seem to work on the GT-Air 2. I need to test a few other solutions out. Going for some longer rides this week and will hopefully find a solution.

Do you or anyone else here get small bugs getting through the vents like my Arai xd4? Edit in rural areas.....
@MotoJournoKris Жыл бұрын
I've only tested it on the 390 Adventure so far, which has a small screen so no issues like that, that I noticed at least. On my old Hornet ADV I'd get rain through the vents, but I never noticed bugs.
