I've been watching few of shoeing horses videos and I don't have a doubt that this guy right here is a master in his craft. Even the final product look much higher quality than anything else I've seen so far.

You bring me back to the time when my French grandpa was teaching me the old school hot shoeing, my clothing had that stanch of burned hooves, and my back was aching badly. Thanks for explaining so calmly and so clearly.

We use pads all the time with show saddlebreds and hackneys. The are very comfortable and hoofs stay in good condition. Pat looks very comfortable with the new shoes.

Does repeatedly shoeing a horse weaken the hoof by putting multiple nail holes into it? This stuff is fascinating. It’s like watching a super physical form of art.

What an interesting workshop why use gravel? I mean I love it but why not concrete
@crazycoyote1738
@crazycoyote1738 4 жыл бұрын
No, it doesn’t weaken it, since it grows like fingernails.and about 1/4” thick. The old holes are moving forward, and new holes are in a new fresh surface.

It can take a couple days, sometimes. If the horse has just had enough then it's best to let him be and come back to it when he's ready to stand calmly

That was about the most difficult way to trim leather that I have ever seen. An Xacto knife, or a utility knife would trim that excess exponentially easier than hammering a knife through it. I would be comfortable freehand trimming, but you can lay it on a small cutting board and safely cut straight down. Spin the board as needed, and if the first pass leaves some connected areas, just make a second pass.

Shouldn't the pad go outside the shoe? How's it work under the shoe?
@chriselliott8509
@chriselliott8509 4 жыл бұрын
It's basically an insole like you would have in your work boots. It would get destroyed on the outside, as the steel shoe is the wear surface.

Whoever edits this with that writing being over what he's doing that's no good. Because sometimes he does very small stuff that you need to hold screen to see it and you can't see it because of the writing. Just something I want to throw out there

God gave us dominion over the animals. That is important. We are not to hurt the animals but to care for them they live in this world with us or at least not harm them. That tenant is found also in a physicians oath to do no harm. Some humans harm animal, either by hand or by neglect. There are always animals found neglected and / or abused. You see this on tv or on electronics. I am always upset by these. Little dogs and cats in horrible conditions being bred to sell. Horses, donkeys, or mules with overgrown hoofs. Yesterday I watched a you tube video about a Gene pig being taken out of a factery. I had no idea, just hadn’t thought of it. Buddha I did some reading about him and his beliefs, do not kill anything. They all have their work. Wouldn’t we all be better if we follow Buddha’s tenants. If their good to you, be good to them.

idk about this, seems like a bad trim to me and the pad on the hoof\under the shoe is rincaled so it makes the horse unbalencend

Interesting and true example of young boys ( girls too) who need physical exercise to reduce negative behaviors. Much ADD is incorrectly treated with drugs when better physical and mental exercise can be more effective.
