Shoeing an Overdue Horse with New Shoes & Pads

This horse was about two weeks overdue, due to the fact that we got mass amounts of snow in our area and that I caught the flu so I wasn't able to get to her original scheduled shoeing appointment. Finding a good farrier to come out for one or two horses is getting more and more difficult! I’ve been trimming my own horse for three years, and I’m not a farrier! I have a TB with low under run heels and not a lot of sole with no concavity to his foot! I never use nippers alway just rasp and knife to clean up the bars and around the frog. Being barefoot isn’t working for this horse so much but I’m not going to attempt putting shoes on myself! Really frustrating trying to find a farrier to come out! I’ve learned a lot watching your videos! I’d be really screwed if I didn’t have videos like these so thanks man!

I wonder if you have ever heard of the filter goo that goes between the pad and hoof? It's okay but i think it might be a better sealant for the sole. It's like the difference between silly puddy or gum which indeed comfort and protects, but the kind you have to portion individually, smacking and blending all 3 products which will limit protection. This other stuff is viscuous and sealing the hoof better and it hardenss up. Peoviding a more stable protectant, too. 🐴❤🐴

I have very little knowledge when it comes to horses, but I believe it's to protect their hoofs either from the cold snow or from some specific terrain. It could also be to prevent debris from building up. Either way, my point is that it probably has a protective purpose.

They’re all handmade knives I’ve acquired from my friends. I actually have a video from a few months ago showing how I sharpen my knives with a buffing wheel!
