Convenient that the old gate burned down! A similar think happened in Birmingham, UK. There was an old building called Bingly Hall and Brummies knew it well going there for exhibitions and the such like. But, it was on prime land and there was hope that new development would take place. There was a bit of an outcry as people wanted Bingly Hall to remain as part of the development. A fire in the old building put pay to that idea and set the scene for new development.
