I am impressed by your wonderful sensitivity and aesthetic eye. Until now, I had hardly seen any Hollywood productions that featured Japan or Japanese characters. Because when you watch it, you're disappointed and can't get into the story. Even though the story was good, the Japanese expression was a mix of "Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai" and was just terrible. This time, Sanada-san is the main character, so I really wanted to see it, but I wasn't expecting much of an expression of Japanese culture. That's why I was surprised that when you put your mind to it, you can create something so beautiful and realistic, and I also feel the hidden power of Hollywood productions. I also commend Mr. Sanada for bringing in a professional crew from Japan and the efforts of the Japanese actors. Thank you for the wonderful costumes. All of these are beautiful. Japan is "indigo". That is also the correct origin focus.

In all of America's depictions of Japan before Shogn, there was something missing or too much. Projecting authentic Japan into overseas works has been a goal that Hiroyuki Sanada has pursued over many years, inherited from his master Sunny Chiba. I think he finally achieved that with this work and surpassed Sunny Chiba. I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in making this work. They tackled extremely difficult tasks seriously and made Hiroyuki Sanada's dream come true. 🙏

As someone who has studied Japanese textile in Japan for 25 years and got three degrees in traditional dressmaking and 2 degrees from Japan as well in traditional textiles for the commoners, the merchants, the aristocracy and the clergy, this video both made me laugh at how self-indulgent and self-righteous carlos is and also saddened me because the non japanese audience is going to believe this is authentic knowledge. I understand why sanada San decided to hire Japanese costume designers when he became one of the producers of the show. This is so inaccurate , this is almost infuriating. When Kurosawa and Oshima and Ozu and Mizoguchi made period films in Japan, they asked the real dressmakers to make the clothes based on the designs and models provided by museums curators and textile professors at some of the most prestigious universities in japan. When a woman in those films had to wear 7 kimono on top of another and only the 7th was showing, he had all the under layers made accurately because to him this was the most important part of showcasing japanese culture, authenticity. When they filmed a tea ceremony scene they had an entire teahouse built by traditional japanese carpenters and every item was authentic in time period and use. That is what costume designers are supposed to do, keep it authentic. That is why every tiume i watch this new Shogun series i am a little annoyed especially when i compare the clothes that Sawai San is wearing compared to what Shimada Yoko was wearing in the original. or when i comparev the clothes of Hiroyuki San to the clothe his former charter played by Toshiro Mifune wore. But then again, Toshiro Mifune demanded that all of his clothes were made in japan by professional and he agreed to be part of the original Shogun series and Shimada Yoko even looked for accurate Kimono herself. I am sorry but carlos idea of japaneseness is closer to Sayuri memoirs of a geisha in terms of accuracy ! I have been studying textile in japan and making authentic Kimono for 30 years and i still would NEVER have the nerve or confidence to create costumes for a period drama, even though i make or fix kimono for Noh and kabuki actors in Japan.

Ok this is good and authentic, but now i have to make it mine and unique out of sheer hubris and arrogance. Way to many shows where ruined the last decade by show runners and the creatives stupidity and inabillaty to put aside personal ambition.

No no no, rosario, you are ONE OF the MANY costume designers on Shogun. (Pronounced Shogoon not Show Gun . Hiroyuki when he became one of the producers on Shogun demanded to have professional Japanese costume designers brought from Japan to make the Japanese costumes because he didn't like the one he was wearing and so did Anna Sawai. So man clearly don't tie your name to the Japanese costumes because clearly the japanese aqctors hated your idea of Japanese costumes to the point that they replaced you when it came to THEIR costumes.
