Ever since The Last Samurai, he has been giving his faithful advice on Japanese-ness and all the staff around him have been cold to him. And now he is the lead actor and producer, and I am glad that all his efforts have been rewarded.
The costumes on this show were incredible, some of the best for a period drama ever. Between the costume and the sets, this show felt like we were in 1600 Japan...

They truly are but I have to wonder, surely there are Japanese designers that could have done this? No disrespect to him as he seems so committed to getting it spot on
OUTSTANDING OVATION. Exquisite mastery put on display for all : elegant, stylish, highly detailed and beautiful works of art draped on the actors. I'm in awe. Thank you.

I am impressed by your wonderful sensitivity and aesthetic eye. Until now, I had hardly seen any Hollywood productions that featured Japan or Japanese characters. Because when you watch it, you're disappointed and can't get into the story. Even though the story was good, the Japanese expression was a mix of "Chinese, Korean, Vietnamese, and Thai" and was just terrible. This time, Sanada-san is the main character, so I really wanted to see it, but I wasn't expecting much of an expression of Japanese culture. That's why I was surprised that when you put your mind to it, you can create something so beautiful and realistic, and I also feel the hidden power of Hollywood productions. I also commend Mr. Sanada for bringing in a professional crew from Japan and the efforts of the Japanese actors. Thank you for the wonderful costumes. All of these are beautiful. Japan is "indigo". That is also the correct origin focus.

In all of America's depictions of Japan before Shogn, there was something missing or too much. Projecting authentic Japan into overseas works has been a goal that Hiroyuki Sanada has pursued over many years, inherited from his master Sunny Chiba. I think he finally achieved that with this work and surpassed Sunny Chiba. I would like to thank the staff for their efforts in making this work. They tackled extremely difficult tasks seriously and made Hiroyuki Sanada's dream come true. 🙏

I'm not a fan of everyone in hollywood these days extreme obsession with putting their own mark and spin on things. Ok this is good and authentic, but now i have to make it mine and unique out of sheer hubris and arrogance. Way to many shows where ruined the last decade by show runners and the creatives stupidity and inabillaty to put aside personal ambition.
