Loved the childhood story you shared. The Shogun Warrior I had back in the day was the Godzilla one...man, wish I still had that one. I had a version of Mazinger that was "Action Figure" size that was Die-Cast, with removable wings and a rocket fist.

I'm so glad to hear you are a fan of Mazinger and Grendizer. Growing up in Québec, we had Grendizer playing from 75 to 82 (lots of reruns). We know him by his translated name Goldorak. I'm curently rewatching that show. Mazinger wasn't playing, but I did read some comic books about him, and there was that cross over movie with all the Kaiser style robot fighting a huge monster, so I did see him then. Never had the toy but I do have a Grendizer 1/144 scale model kit from Bandai on the way, I plan on doing a review. You should check those model kits, they have Mazinger too. Man I just got my first Shogun Warrior (Great Mazinga) in the mail like an hour ago. Figure is in amazing shape--a really lucky find. Never had one as a kid, but always wanted one. So yeah--it only took like 45 years. Maybe I'll pick up Gaiking or Raydeen when I'm 90...

Great review! Super robots like Mazinger Z, Great Mazinger, Grendizer, Mazinkaiser, Getter Robo, Voltes V, Daimos, and Combattler V are pretty popular here in the Philippines. I watched these alongside Gundam and Transformers with my dad. I believe the show accurate figure shown in the video’s actually the Super Robot Chogokin Great Mazinger, a bit smaller than Soul of Chogokin with less (or lighter?) die-cast metal parts and usually more articulation but still the same quality as the GX guys with GX-73 Great Mazinger D.C. probably being the closest to the anime :))

@@BertTheStormtrooper 知っていますよグレートマジンガーのジャンボマシンダーは一期は頭がアニメに近くめっちゃシャープでかっこいいブレーンコンドルも原型が違って二期は頭部のトンガリ部分がちょっと小さくなったけどモデル見たいな見た目になってショーグンウォーリアーは頭部のトンガリ部分が更に小さくなって腕が秘密武器になって足の形も変わって胸の放熱板がソフビ製で初期のジャンボマシンダーショーグンウォーリアーも腕以外は日本版と同じだけどね胸の部分が一体型で放熱板がシール処理されたバージョンですねライディーンは腕がアイアンカッターだったなあドラゴンは足のシールが銀色の稲妻見たいだったから笑えましたよ😁😁😁
