Ohtani purposefully lived in dorms most his life and gave all his money to his mom for the majority of his career. It is SERIOUSLY doubtful he is gambling or involved in crime.

Ohtani's contract is 10 years for $700 ($70M a year) but he's deferring ~97% of his salary ($68M a year) for 10 years so he'll "only" be paid $2M a year for the next 10 years (and only in 2034-2043 will be getting that $68M per year). I don't know, this doesn't sound like somebody with a multi-million dollar gambling problem to me (or maybe he's just gambling away all that lucrative New Balance money??).

@hobokyle7504
@hobokyle7504 26 күн бұрын
@@oli.y I think it has something to do with MLB salary caps/luxury tax. If he agrees to a deferment, they can get more high value players without hitting salary cap and paying the luxury tax (to punish teams that try to "buy" a world series). I am not an expert by any means, but I think if they pay Ohtani when he's not playing for them they can avoid counting that 68M/yr towards the cap (thus allowing them to pay him and other players more in the long run since they are saving so much by not hitting cap).

His interpreter is a con man. He lied about working for the Red Sox. He got close to a guy that doesnt speak English and was able to talk his way into Ohtani's life and getting him to trust him, even with his money. I can see how Ohtani could've been fooled by him. Look at Fabia and how he got into Diego Sanchez's head. Even Tom Brady's guru Alex Guerrero is shady and i think used Tom. And now they have decided to part ways as business partners on the TB12 brand. Brady is going to rebrand.

If you bet on yourself to win, you own the liability of "taking it easy" today for the big bet tomorrow, or risking injury today at the expense of sitting out or taking it easier tomorrow when the winnings are less or void. This is doubly true when management of teams is involved. There are, unfortunately, no ways to allow those involved with the outcome of games to gamble that do not result in conflict of interest.

All the short bus riders claiming Joe was the one who brought up the whole yakuza association is ludicrous. Check out the internet. This is over a half a billion! There’s definitely sticky fingers involved.

Money doesn’t mean a thing. I know a couple of multi millionaires and they are miserable. They even bought me a 38k rolex and a gold bracelet,and I gave them back because his son was dating my daughter who is a RN. I told them after their son threw a iPhone at my daughter and I choked him out,I placed him in their Mercedes and said never contact me again. We have enough money to live comfortable lives.

Professional leagues all have rules that prohibit any dealings with illegal bookies. $4.5M was wired from his account directly to the bookie. This is a federal crime, plus a state crime due to it happening in Cali.

1. Shohei's name got brought up bc his interpreter was betting w an illegal bookie 2. A BASKETBALL player would go play a few minutes than say he's injured while people were betting his unders so they'd hit 3. Jamie should've been more on top of this part of the episode bc lord there was a lot of uncertainty around both of those situations 4. It amazes me how Joe Rogans brain automatically thought of the Yakuza during this lmao

Even if ohtani didn’t bet, it is obvious he knew about it. No one just comes out and immediately admits they stole millions unless they are taking one for the team. Ippei would just let his lawyers talk instead of admitting to make story go away. If you don’t realize this, you are out of touch with reality or a dodger fan. Or both.
