The home run he hit at Nationals Park sounded like a Dodgers home game after he hit that home run a few days ago, but that was amazing to see. Muncy did a great job hitting that three run homer and getting it started at the top of the 3rd putting 6 runs on them. I'm happy they're playing better than they were.

Casual Jays fan here, didn’t know much about his controversies when I showed up to this game last night. I was in the 500s (basically the top of the stadium) and the boos were deafening even up there. I honestly felt bad for the guy once I learned about the whole translator situation, I hope the booing doesn’t continue much longer

Jays fan since April 7, 1977 here (I went to that game - their first ever). The booing wasn’t to do with the gambling/translator issue, although that might have conveniently contributed to it. It was to do with the perceived notion that Ohtani used Toronto (and other teams to a lesser degree) to jack up his payday in LA. That combined with the perception he was on a plane to Toronto (which of course was not his fault) led Jays fans to think him playing for the Jays was a done deal.

May be the most idiotic booing of a player I've ever heard, and there have been some bad ones. They booed him because a couple of moronic media guys claimed, without any verification or sourcing, that Ohtani was on a flight to Toronto to sign with the team. Ohtani did nothing to offend the fans there, and never uttered a remotely negative word about the team or the city. That said, I appreciate that their hearts weren't really in it, and flipped quickly to cheer him when he hit the HR. I've generally considered the Blue Jay fanbase underrated and one of the better ones in baseball.
