Damn I just realized: Joichiro's cooking was so unique that it saved Erina from following the same path as her mom. Her mom, like Erina, was also born with the Goddess Tongue power. But years of tasting food eventually drove her into a state of deep internal crisis - so much that she not only abandoned her role of tasting, but also her infant daughter.
