Less vibration = Bone conduction reduction I picked up my Openrun Pro 2 a week ago. I currently have the Aftershokz Aeropex. The Openrun pro2 have more bass, but, I like the "in my head" bone conduction sound when making calls on the original, several Aeropex better. With loud ambient noise, I find it harder to hear with the new one. If I place my fingers in my ear canals or use foam ear plugs, the sound increases a lot on the aeropex. On the new model, the sound is reduced a lot. I believe the air speaker is the problem. Maybe the problem of the bone conduction driver is: 1 The placement of the new headset is not as close to your skin 2 It is smaller to make room for the other driver. 3 Or, it is not energized as much to increase the battery of all four drivers (it is my understanding there are 2 per side) I am obviously speculating. However, the new one is better to listen to music in a quieter ambient environment. Hopefully, this may be a software controlled remedy..ie reduce/increase the volume of individual speakers. I know I will receive comments Such as..these were design to hear your surroundings or buy an in ear set for loud noises. I have a previous bone conduction that works great in loud environment. These are individual reduced compromise of the open air and the original bone conduction models My friend who is hearing deficient cannor hear these, but he he loves his open shoks pro 1 Cmon shoks....do better...wasted money

After watching this video and reading your comment, I'm convinced to stick with my openrun Pro 1. The mag charger allows you to put it on charge with one hand, the bone conduction is the white point, I don't want to sacrifice that for a half baked soeaker driver. And you're right, plugging your ear when you need to is better than having air conduction When my gen 1s expire, I'm getting another gen 1.
@JBECMADNICАй бұрын
The best way to explain these is that they are a cross between the shokz open fit/open fit air and the open run pro Gen 1. They sound great but not as loud or as much bass as the open fit. they have the open fit air quality but lower volume. They also don't have as much bone conduction effect as the open run pro Gen 1. Take each product and cut them in half. They are good but don't expect full bone conduction sound and feel and don't expect the same level off high volume and bass from the direct pitch/air conduction. One last thing is the AI mic. It is good, better than any previous version of the the open run or open move. The opencom or opencom2 has a better mic. In order for best mic as far as noise canceling for the person on the other end would be the #1 opencom2 #2 opencom #3 open fit #4 open fit air #5 open run pro 2 #6 open run pro #7 open rum #8 open move The audio quality and loudness list #1 open fit #2 open fit Air #3 open run pro 2 #4 open run pro #5 open run #6 opencom 2 #7 opencom same as opencom2 quality #8 openmove

Picked up mine today. Very important users of prior After shokz and Shokz devices understand something: These are NOT bone conducting headphones with the addition of an air driver for a small amount of additional bass. These are full range open ear air drivers/speakers with the addition of a very small amount of bone conduction. I'm not saying they are a bad product or sound bad, but there is a ton of sound leakage. I'm returning mine because Shokz isn't being honest about product design.
@jasestuАй бұрын
This is a really good point. These are my first "bone conduction" headphones (aside from a brief try of the version 1 in a store) and I was trying to figure out where the bone conduction was happening because it all seems to be through the "air conduction". I guess if it performs well it doesn't really matter, but I need more time with them to determine that.
@kentsutton4973Ай бұрын
@@jasestu for me the issues were sound leakage (my coworkers or people next to me don't need to know what music I'm listening) and situational awareness. Having used other Shokz products for years you definitely have less perception of outside sounds with these compared to 100% bone conduction. To your point what use cases and what features are or aren't important vary person to person. I just wish Shokz was more upfront to long time users. They market it as a step up in bone conduction, when it's actually a step down.

Great point Thank You Kent, your right they don’t mention that on the Pro2. Thank you others for chiming in. @knicks2030Ай бұрын
@@bobbyg4100 My question though is, is the sound leakage that much worse than the originals? This is not a big deal for me, but it is something that could be depending on your use case. Regarding multipoint connection - you don’t need to pair your Garmin watch with the headphones, if you’re running with your iPhone. If you have your iPhone on you while running, your Garmin watch will play all the workout prompts through the iPhone and the iPhone will route them to the headphones, even if you have music or podcast playing. Try it! I never pair my headphones with my Garmin watch, and all the Garmin prompts are still delivered to my headphones while I run. That way you can leave the multipoint open for another device like iPad or a laptop.

@knicks2030Ай бұрын
Great review and I agree about your nitpicking suggestions at the end! I really want these in the smallest case possible. Even just something to cover them like a clear plastic case and a hook to put on keys or a bag. The case does have a hook loop, but again it is so big that I would not use it that way. The beeping is annoying but not as annoying IMO on the original Open Run Pros with the lady talking to you every time you turn them on or off or change the sound setting or when the battery is getting low. I will take the beeps over her! I emailed them about a trade-in program too lol. Some people are mentioning in the comments how these are not "technically" bone conduction. The sound is better with these, but I could understand if the actual bone conduction part is better for certain use cases and it is disappointing not having it as much in the 2s. Last but not least, my nitpick is I like the position and larger multi-function button on the original Open Run Pros vs the 2s. It is a little harder to reach or maybe I just have to get used to it.

I cycle regularly in Oklahoma, which can be very windy. Even if it's not windy that day, it's still windy because I'm riding a bike. How does the wind noise compared to traditional earbuds work? Am I able to listen to an audiobook/podcast or will the talking be outmatched by wind noise? Would I have to crank up the volume to drown out the wind?
@Aesthetic_AlАй бұрын
You’d would probably need to turn up the volume to about 70% or more, honestly. But with a lot of regular earbuds, using transparency mode makes wind noise even worse. I would still give these a shot. Love the button controls over any earbuds . Hope this helps

I really appreciate your honest review and enjoy all your videos! However, I still don't see a compelling reason to upgrade from my version 1. Did I overlook something? While USB-C is nice, it’s not a dealbreaker for me. I was hoping to see an improvement in sound quality, but that didn’t come through in this video. Do you think I should consider upgrading? I'm still trying to figure it out.
@Aesthetic_Al2 ай бұрын
Fair enough! I take all feedback, I want to get better. I would emphasize that it's less vibrations from the "bone conduction", and it gets a bit louder (which I don't care for it to be louder) but the sound quality is relativity the same. For me since my videos last year I've been pretty vocal I'm no fan of bone conduction because of the vibrations so you seen me using Openfit/Openfit Air. These are my new favorite moving forward. Hope this helps brother.
@knicks2030Ай бұрын
I would add that the sound quality is definitely better and you have more sound settings on these compared to the Open Run Pros. All you had was voice or the Shokz settings. With this, you have multiple preset options and can even customize your own. The vibrations are almost non-existent even on high settings. It is a little louder too. Besides the vibrations at louder noises, I really did not have a problem with the original Open Run Pros sound (music was a little disappointing but anything else was fine), but this version is definitely a step up.
