great show & well done to Marcus for that cracking pano, would love to see it at 2m wide! I have used a mixture of Canon & third party batteries for 4 years now from my Canon 80D days to my current R5. I went online and researched comparative tests and whilst I didn't do a scientific test both of the brands I bought have lasted well. I think the Newell ones were too new to be in the test reviews when I bought my last batteries but certainly tempted by the 'winter' ones as even if you keep the battery warm in a pocket it gets cold in the camera over time. Just wondered Harry as the R5 only lets you shoot at the highest shutter speeds if the battery is over 60% was there any difference in that element of performance.

Regarding your question about the 100% magnification image size, I'm not sure that your answer (or more accurately your example used) is fully correct - although I confess I can't quite get my head round it, so would appreciate your expert view. While I agree it's all dependent on pixel density rather than any other parameter like crop factor, you said a 50MP full frame sensor would give greater magnification than a 20MP MFT sensor. While the MFT crop factor is 2X the actual sensor size is 1/4 of full frame. Therefore, a full frame sensor with the same or greater pixel density would need to be at least 80MP wouldn't it?

B as M4/3 has a 2x crop factor. So 200mm on M4/3 is the 35mm equivalent of 400mm. Assuming that the same megapixel level is used. My Panasonic GX80 with the 45-175mm lens gives me a reach at the long end equivalent of 350mm. My Fuji X-T3 with my 55-200mm lens at the long end, gives me a reach equivalent to 300mm at the long end. My A7IV with my Tamron 70-180mm gives me 180mm at the long end. Thing is my GX80 is only 16mp, the X-T3 is 26mp and the A7IV is 33mp. So the reach is a combo of factors. Of the three options my 1.5x crop X-T3 would have the longest magnification at 100% on my PC as taking 26mp and the focal length together give the largest magnification.

Just watched you feature on darkroom printing, always puzzled by the test strip timing of 5, 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, etc. Surely 5 to 10 seconds is one stop exposure 10 to 15 seconds is half stop, 15 to 20 seconds is a quarter stop, 20 to 25 is an eighth of a stop, 25 to 30 is a sixteenth of a stop etc, yet we expose our image in the camera at one stop, half stop or third stop increments (referring to film, shutter speed, aperture or ISO). Shouldn’t it be 5, 10, 20, 40. Aiming for an ideal exposure time of 10 to 20 seconds the aperture is adjusted, by a half stop or one stop or more on the enlarger lens to suit the ideal exposure time. Am I strange in my method and thinking?
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
You are correct in your theory. There’s no one way to do this and different people will do things different ways. The guy in the darkroom did actually explain that many people do the method you have suggested but we edited it out (along with lots of other bits) because we need to keep to time. I guess it’s just down to personal preference, but you raise a valid point. Thanks for watching.

@aseingarnevaborn2 жыл бұрын
While an argument can be made for quality and longevity of OEM batteries, the prices are very high. Have used a mix of them and 3rd party offerings and found no issues in quality of the batteries or how long they last. The other factor is even less desirable are the amount of counterfeit batteries on the market. I have found these to be very prevalent with the Canon LP-E6 being a popular fake. They are made cheap, potentially unsafe and made to imitate the genuine product. IHave even bought batteries from respected national retailers who were ticked in to reselling fake products as so hard to tell the difference. The one had swollen and I had to pry it out of the camera that is what made me look in to it being genuine. Much scarier than a reputable 3rd party company.
@pdxxtqhf2 жыл бұрын
I am disappointed in the report on 3rd party batteries. You are recommending a product without that a comparison to other manufacturers. I use several different batteries from different manufacturers as well as OEM, I also have chargers from 3rd party suppliers. In my opinion it is more about avoiding the fakes than the quality of 3rd party replacements.
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
