Congrats! You had received good copy of FED. It's old so some copies suffers from shutter issues. Also you can try to shoot without glasses: your FED has diopter compensation. You can find this lever right under rewind knob. Fine adjustment can make shooting easier.

@FelipeAlMoreno7 жыл бұрын

Superb as usual Eduardo. I especially enjoy how you place the images of the photographs into the video. If you were to call out the exposure information to the videographer, (giving you an easy recovered record) you could then include that info printed on screen over the displayed photographs. More work for you in post production, but I think it would add to the product.
@bwc19766 жыл бұрын
Great shots, I love the look of this lens and film. I am a fellow glasses wearer though, and the easiest rangefinder to look through that I've seen so far is the Olympus 35RC. Very easy to see the frame lines and what's outside of them.
@ChrisRoutledge7 жыл бұрын
I got started with rangefinders with a Zorki 4 and a FED 3, but I wear glasses too, and those viewfinders are very small and scratchy. The Leica 3 and 2 eyepieces may be a metal, but at least they don't have those serrated edges. These "you''ll see all of them" videos are great.
@GreggObst7 жыл бұрын
To keep the metal viewfinder from scratching your glasses you can either epoxy (carefully) a rubber washer to the outside of the metal viewfinder circle or Aki-Asahi also offers peel and stick felt ones measured for the Fed-2 aki-asahi.com/store/html/Fed-2/eyepatch/index.php They also offer the peel and stick felt ones for other models as well. I would advise epoxying these on as well as the adhesive comes off too easily otherwise. I've had a few rub off in camera bags until I started epoxying them on. I haven't had scratched glasses since.
@GreggObst7 жыл бұрын
I don't know why this comment keeps getting posted as a reply to the wrong comment I'm replying to above but... This is in answer to the eyepiece scratching glasses.

Yeah, FEDs are known to be inexpensive and reliable cameras. I personally use FED 3 because it has slow shutter speeds like 1/15 and 1/8 that I need because I like shooting in low light. I'm glad to see that you've liked both FEDs you've tried and thanks for the video - now I see why people recommend FED 2 so much, it really is a lovely camera. If only it had speeds like 1/15 or 1/8, or 1/10. Great video as always, keep up the good work

I think that I fell lucky when I bought my Fed 2. It was my first rangefinder and came from Russia (sold on eBay). It feels much smoother than any Russian camera has a right to and the shutter is fantastically quiet. I also have a Zorki 3 and a Zorki 4K and they feel much more agricultural. Like your Fed 2 my model is one of the early ones with Leica style wind knob and the raised edge around the viewfinder Fed 2(b) I think. I'd recommend them to anyone who wants to try a rangefinder or even someone who just wants something quirky and fun to shoot. They can be had from eBay sellers who advertise them as having had a full CLA for about £30.
@Sebastian_Astudillo3 жыл бұрын
Fed and zorki both offer copies of the Leica cameras, the difference is Fed started copying leicas as early as the 1930s and did reverse engineering to create the most precise and similar copy, fed cameras are really good quality, the same with Kiev Cameras. Zorki in the other hand is a copy that started it's production in the early 1960s with cheaper materials and less quality. I own a Kiev III from 1955 and it's a really good camera, the jupiter 8m lense works incredible good. I also own a Fed 1 from 1953 and damn im loving it

¡Hola Eduardo! As always a fantastic video that I really enjoyed. I have a Zorki 4K that I love, but for some reason I always though the FSU cameras were more suited to black and white films, but you proved me wrong with what, in all probability, is one of he cheapest colour films out there. Did you develop the film yourself? There are a lot of really good cameras out there that those whose don't have them like to talk down, but if you get a good one you have a great camera.

Sorry I can’t reply in Spanish. Good camera, good video, good pictures. The Russian lens name says Industar. I have one of these, and about fifty other cameras in my collection. I’ve only shot one film with it so far, and had a problem. The first few frames were taken with the Industar 26 50 mm which came with it and these came out fine, but I then changed to a Jupiter 12 35 mm and all of these were completely blank. The Jupiter 12 works on other cameras and the shutter in the FED 2 is working wits normal lens. I’ll have to try it again with the Jupiter 12. This lens extends a long way back into the camera and I’m wondering if the shutter in the FED 2 is slightly further forward than in other cameras and the rear element of the lens is touching it. The original FED is a very nice camera, smaller than the FED 2, and is a copy of the Leica II. I have one which I bought very cheaply not working. It would be a simple repair; I must get it done sometime.
