Interesting reads, enjoyed your video, thanks for sharing! For me it is not so bad to have a long video covering all together, a bit like a lecture… nice seeing you embarking on a spiritual journey - there is nothing wrong with a bit of psychoactives for a philosopher 🤓. After seeing the beautiful film „Bardo“ on Netflix, it was interesting to find out about the term, which I was wondering about. Now forgive me if I feel to comment a little on some of the topics. Hubert Fichte mentions somewhere about Levy-Strauss that his administrative way of describing has helped reinstalling postcolonialistic views in postwar France and - especially about Tropes tristes - that many of his views come from a very eurocentric standpoint. Now as I have read Nietzsche in my youth to, these books are interesting for me, thanks! It was also very informative in recent years for me to learn that his sister, Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche, was extremely influential on the way many still perceive Nietzsche today. The book „Der Wille zur Macht“ was never published by Nitzsche himself but assembled from his writings by his sister, who was a very jealous guard over his heritage and an avid fan of Hitler, as her husband had been a antisemite. In letters we know today it becomes clear that Nietzsche resented the views of his sister and when his disease spread he did not want to go into her custody but had no physical ability to get out of this situation. She even stage photos of him embracing her while in this dilusive state (which is interesting to see when you are also interested in photography). I don’t know if the books you are mentioning highlight these aspects but I think they are very worthwhile looking into.

@@sentimental7167 no, the book I read deal with Nietzsche’s philosophy and his evolution as a thinker. But after reading them it’s clear he was a rabid anti-racist. I knew about her sister and all that, but it’s always good to comment that as other people might be unfamiliar and it clears out some Nietzschean myths. :)

This is a real deal cameras comparison video, well done! I have Yashica 12 that in terms of usability is pretty similar to the Rolleiflex, but guess what? I have four Mamiyas C330 camera, my first one since 1988, and three more, I would never change my Mamiya, back in the 90's I shoot the most beautiful wedding portraits with this camera, and after that got a RB67 which I used to shoot weddings portraits and my faithful Olympus OM-1 witch still own and use. The Mamiya C330 is the most versatile 120 film camera even in today's standards. I really enjoyed watching your video today, thank you so much!

I will never understand authors who write in chamuyo. I mean, I get it you are a master on it, but when you have to use fancy metaphors and make it complicated for the rest, it just makes it boring to read. Reviews will say oh, I am too dumb to understand and give them 5 stars when in fact the author is just a jerk who can't explain things properly.

I'm happy you're back! I can't read Hemingway, because he often wrote brutal scenes with animals. It really triggers me... But you inspired me to read more, i used to read many books each year and now with social media i have almost stoped reading. It's a shame! Also, love your hair!
@edpavezАй бұрын
@@spirou55ooh, I can relate to what you mean, even if I experience it differently. I’m vegan and very sensitive to animal cruelty, and there were moments in Hemingway that were hard to stomach, but those scenes only give me disgust and sadness, so my situation is very manageable. I’m glad you’re going back to reading. Let me know if you find something worth sharing!

Also remember that any Russian book translated to english, is "dumb down version". Reading it in Russian, even as native speaker, now thats like reading a whole new book.
@edpavezАй бұрын
@@gcardinal this makes me very curious. I understand that all originals are different than their translations. I wonder: what is specific to his use of Russian that cannot be translanted? Is it that Dostoievsky makes his characters speak in the Russian dialects of the region where the book happens, and that adds another layer of meaning? Or is it that he uses accents of class to distinguish characters without needing to name who the speaker is? Maybe it’s both plus a combination of something else? What do you feel makes it feel like a whole new book?
@gcardinalАй бұрын
@@edpavez This is largely due to the flexible word order and the nuanced use of verb forms and aspects in Russian, which can convey subtle shifts in emotion and emphasis, particularly effective in literature. It’s akin to comparing 16 shades of gray to 256; while the core message is transmitted, the finer details, which provide depth and texture, are often lost in translation. When I read classical Russian literature in translation-English or Norwegian-it's about 2x times easier and faster to read than if I read it in Russian. I need to take breaks more often and it's just more challenging mentally.

1:48 "In the years since “The Yellow Wall-Paper” was rediscovered by critics in the 1970s, the story has drawn in readers who have offered up their theories about its possible meaning. “The Yellow Wall-Paper” is a protest against the patriarchy, against the suffocating domesticity of motherhood and marriage. “The Yellow Wall-Paper” serves as a critique of yellow journalism. “The Yellow Wall-Paper” reads as an indictment of industrial capitalism. (Author Jennifer Lunden has noted that wallpaper of the era frequently contained arsenic capable of forming a toxic gas that could sicken oblivious women while they decorated their homes "

Perkins-Gilman’s negative use of the color yellow has in recent years also been read by literary scholars as a metaphorical echoing of “yellow peril”. Perkins-Gilman is well known to have been a racist and a nativist, so these racist sentiments woven into the story and the color symbolism-all the negative things associated with the color yellow: disease, filth, mental turmoil etc. make sense. They are 1:1 with narratives of “yellow peril”.

fyi for comparison, at 6:34 that distance is what I would have, if on my hasselblad 500c\m I'd have used a 21/55 ext. tube on my 120 F4 CF macro lens; this is normal, its the magnification ratio, applied to subject distance, aka as long as ext. distance doesn't exceed 2x focal length then you won't be inside the lens elements 🙂 eg if I used my Nikon PN-11 tube {55mm long approx.} on my 50mm f1.8 AFD I cant focus, but on my 105mm f2.8D macro, I can, but this subject distance is ~ 1" to 1/2 foot away! a nice 'frame filler' a great closeup lens, but also remember, the more glass (Rollinars) the less light let in, so you have a limit, the shutter speed has to slow down, and as you hit 1/125th you can't hand hold any more (motion blur), so it does have its disadvantages too.

According to my wife, I have "Gas" and it is not from food. She keeps asking me how many cameras I need and my response is that it has nothing to do with need, it's all about what I want and what I can afford according to my budget. I have the following digital Canon EOS series, and they all work; 1D (classic), 1DMKIIn, 1DMKIV, 1Ds, 1DsMKII, and 1DsMKIII. I also acquired the 5D and 5DMKII. All of the 1D series are heaving well-built cameras, but I don't complain about the weight, because I love to shoot with them. Keep up shooting with the "old ones." I don't see you being disappointed.
