I love these twisty, tangled film noirs, you can feel the tension and deviousness of the schemers with every line. The crooked D.A. and the two-timing, tough-as-nails secretary were a match made in purgatory.

Have you seen the original “DOA” with Edmond O’Brian? It’s got a great on location jazz band scene at the club “Fisherman”. It’s pretty epic too, although not as great as this one.

I don't think I ever heard of "Robert L. Lippert" until a couple of weeks ago but boy he sure produced some great film noir. From now on when I see film noir with his name in the credits I'll be sure to watch it. I'm already at the point where when I see his name I know its going to be a good flick.

Very good film with talented Russell Wade in the lead. He was in "The Ghost Ship" with Richard Dix. He should have had a bright future. Don't know why that didn't happen.

That's the one scene where the low budget is noticeable, as (a) the action on both landings was obviously filmed on the same set; and (b) the cheap railing almost breaks several times.

LOL there is literally no whatsoever reason why this film should be titled “shoot to kill”, the phrase has no relevance to the plot nor the not exactly crisp dialogue. And the “plot twist” of the judge being the gangster in disguise was so absurd that the actor looks embarrassed.
