This is a video we did a few years ago. Many people do not go back for training videos so we are reposting this for those that have not seen this training block. The Bull Pen is hands down my favorite drill. There is so much to it, you can run drills all day based on this setup.

The bullpen video was awesome, That is some very good basic fundamental training. I would have your students bring a picture of their loved ones when teaching this class and attach their pictures to the heads of your cardboard cut outs to add a little bit of pressure.

lol. I promise your comment is by far the weakest thing in this post. What’s even funnier is the possibility that you don’t realize how weak and insecure you look. What you are really saying is “ I’m trying to find fault in others as a way to somehow justify my failures as a man “ Truth is, the strength of another man’s son is probably the last thing you should be worrying about.

Obviously in a real life scenario the amount of dynamic movement between yourself, possible family, threat and bystanders will most likely be extreme. I’m curious from a tactics standpoint, assuming someone has become proficient in a drill like this, would you want to move forward and “clear your family”, for the sake of how this drill is setup or engage a threat at your present location in between your family. Great drill and expertise. Just curious on your perspective on this taking into account obviously every situation your gun comes out may be entirely different. But I’m wondering is there a general tactic or consensus in your community.

I have always had an issue with scanning at the end of a drill. 2 main reasons really.. shooting competition and the idea of it not being realistic. The common method of looking back at your shooting buddies to see what fingers they are holding up with gun still pointed down range looks cool on IG I guess 🤷‍♂️ I’d want that gun moving with my head as shown here (safe manner).

I’m still catching up on your videos so, this one is new “to me.” Thank you for your excellent training methods. Anyone who is serious about learning can follow your style and presentation. I did something similar to this (but different) many years ago after training with some “European” counterparts. They like to use human obstacles which was wild to experience. Then the next year, some IDF boys taught us some very unique skills as well. Both reels were grueling, and 4.0. I’m not here to say, “well in my day we did it this way,” and I think that wastes my time as well as yours. I had to work within American Peace Officer standards and training, which meant I had to be very careful with what I employed on the range. After the first day of training with my new program, one of my cadets came forward to ask why all of our targets were static and rigid. After an in-depth discussion about P.O.S.T. standards, the cadet went in his way. The next afternoon, when Range time came, I walked out to the range house and I noticed several targets had been repositioned and some had a lot of movement to them. Upon inspection, I saw that the ones moving had been ground mounted but the uprights were on springs, heavy(er) springs like one would find on farm machinery. We had heavy rains moving in which meant it was going to be windy and very wet. A perfect day to train… As my cadets filed in, I asked them if anyone noticed anything different downrange? The cadet that I had talked at length with the day before, had his head down, avoiding eye contact. In walks the Academy Director, who promptly called me into to the office. He proceeded to chew me out about my “connections,” and how POST had given me special approval to run “ real world” training. I was dumbfounded and assured the Director I had NO idea about what he was talking about. He then handed me a new “COF” (course of fire) procedure. It was the very one I had created and had submitted as my plan as part of my final grade when I went through Trainer Training. As Director left, I walked back into the classroom and invited all cadets to follow me to the shooting range. I explained that I liked to call this program, “scoot and shoot.” Anyway at lunch, I invited “the” cadet to eat with me. He finally confessed that he was the Son of the P.O.S.T. Director and the nephew of the State Attorney General. He hand “a few friends” had gained access to the range immediately after classes and had made the changes. The targets were a rudimentary form of ‘reactionary’ types. They wiggled, wobbled, and bobbled according to the weather. With the rains coming down and the winds blowing, needless to say, that day, there were a lot of “flags” and “civilian” casualties. I like what you have better I think, yours replicates as best cardboard can, a more “real world,” open environment type of scenario. Yours can adjusted and tweaked and peaked as you desire which makes for a wide range and variety of scenarios. My apologies for this long winded comment, I just wanted to include a very concise and brief explanation of why and how much better your set up is than mine was. Keep up the great works and may the God of Heaven and Earth smile kindly upon you and your house.

Great video. I see people in gun stores on a regular basis who don't think about what their muzzle is pointed at. Just saw a guy recently who pointed the pistol at the salesman, sideways at me ,and then at his own head. What made it even worse was he was open carrying, and obviously was never taught or never understood the basics. Safety first. "Back to the basics", before anything else can follow 🇺🇸

Good drill. Excellent muzzle discipline. I'm not sure I completely agree with your assessment about looking at a holster as you re-holster. Most people on this channel don't have the experience that you and your son do. Bottom line is look or no look, train it and use it regularly. Don't start changing things in the heat of battle.
