I love this product. Probably one of the best things I have ever purchased. Over 3 years old and thousands of rounds and still works amazingly. The only thing is you have to make sure you clean your rifle before you use 5.56 or .223 again. Too much carbon in your chamber and barrel could result in some big problems.

Have owned the conversion kit for several years now and it has never failed and is more accurate than most folk think. This may also have to do with the twist rate. Using my 16" carbine with 1:9 twist, it shoots very accurate, like nickle size groups or less at 50 yrds. Like you said, your rifle will get very dirty, not to bad in the chamber, but the FCG will get really caked with powder.
@dshteynvil4 жыл бұрын
I had this kit for like 8 years and shot plenty of rounds in my AR. I went a long time in between cleaning it and fired .223 a lot in between. I never had any jams with the .223 but the Conversion bolt does have ejecting issues if You run it dirty for too long. It’s accurate enough but you may have trouble hitting a clay pidgeon at 100 yards. The longer your barrel the more accurate from my experience. It’s pretty poor with barrels shorter than 16”. Keep in mind the ar has a 1:7 to 1:9 twist rate while the .22 has a 1:16 which is a big difference. I ended up getting a 9”. .22 barrel and the thing can hit small targets at 100yds. This is a great product.

Running this on my 7.5" AR pistol with a muzzle brake and it works perfectly! The only issues I've had were with old ammo that had been sitting in a box for years, it had some misfires which were easily cleared. Had a couple of failures to feed as well with the old ammo which I attributed to old powder not moving the bolt back far enough to pick up the next round. Once I switched over to new ammo it ran and ran and ran, no issues. I even shot some subsonic without a suppressor and it ran those perfectly too! Gonna need to get a 22lr can for this setup so I can have some quiet fun! 22lr is getting pricey too, but not nearly as much as 556 so if you have an inclination pick one of these kits up and go out and enjoy your ARs and bring that Ruger 10/22 along to compare!

However after reading the instructions, I found out that you are NOT supposed to use the little black bolt buffer with this kit UNLESS you are using a bolt buffer weight with it. So I will only end up using the buffer plug To keep better pressure forward on the bolt conversion kit and the insert that goes inside the charging handle to reduce gas blowback through the charging handle.

That would be a great set up except here in northwest ohio we can not even find any .22 ammo right now
@normalguy5564 жыл бұрын
You can still find it online for around 10-12 cents a round. Versus 556/223 for 60-80 cents a round.

@@normalguy556 where is it 10-12 cents a round if you don’t mind sharing?

So if you go to ammoseek . Com it basically searches a bunch of sites for the lowest price and only if its in stock. Even shows if shipping is super expensive or not. They have a bunch of calibers. Super useful

The only 22LR I’ve been able to find around here is CCI Quiet. At least I have a bolt action to run it with :/

Just got mine a month ago. This thing rocks.

I have had one for about six months now. Someone said you need to run about 5 or 6 rounds of .556 after shooting the 22's. My problem is I can't just run 5 or 6 rounds, I got to run at least two or three full mags. (LOL).

Couple of points: .22lr is hard to get as well, and if your going to use a brace following the ATF letter a couple of days ago, at least tell people to go comment on the letter, or make those who may not know about it aware of it. Love the channel.

Fun little fact, the m&p 15-22 magazine will work in this conversion kit

Not without an adapter. The Better-Mag S&W Adapter works great.

@@qssneaky There's a kit for it? I just be swapping between the two magazine types without thinking about it.

For real. I would much rather have the S&W mag with the assist tab.

I have this conversion in my ar currently. I have a piece of ductape with the amount of clicks required to bring it back up to 556 ammo aiming on the stock.

I had a cmmg conversation kit for several years and up till today I wasn’t very happy with it because it would stove pipe a lot. So I took some of my reloading lube and wiped down 40 shells and they ran flawlessly happy again. I guess it was me and not the bolt carrier. Pew pew.

I really don’t understand why people hate on .22 rounds so much...they’re extremely fun, easy and simple. I went about picked up a nice little bolt action rifle recently and enjoy the shit out of it. Heck, more than half of the arms I have!

This is an awesome configuration! I love the quick release barrel. That’s super smart. I really like that. I’d definitely go that route.

I was breaking in a 15-22 and it blew out the extractor. Just shipped it off to S&W today. Then ordered this kit with 10rd mags for Cali (Please don't @ me. It gets old), for my AR. Just came back here, as I was scouting this kit a while back, to say thanks. Thanks.

we picked one up on sale (under $100) a few years back, several Black Dog mags and put together a .22 AR pistol out of spare parts that is a BLAST to shoot......it always gets taken and shot ALOT when we go to the range...highly recommend

Great for cheap plinking and ammo savings - well worth the cost and it's loads of fun.
