I like your tinkering. I have been trying various arrow/fletch builds myself. The two important things I have found to be true with "helical" fletch is: 1. The longer the vane, the more the arrow will parachute at distances beyond 80 yards. 2. "Fixed blade" Broadhead tuning is much harder if your helical direction(Left or Right) does not match your bow/string clocking. Field points and expandable broadheads will not really be affected by this as long as the bow is in tune. If the bow is out of tune enough, you will have two separate groups for left and right helical. I have observed this with two different bows. Both Mathews, but 14 years apart.

We have found the exact same things to be true in our testing! Left vs right helical is not as extreme with field tips but even still, there’s separate groups. Your direction should definitely match your bow!

I’ve been shooting the sevr broadheads and the schwackers, and they both seem to fly solid with whatever helical, but when I’ve shot the 2 blade fixed blades (2 main blades with an additional 2 small bleeder blades) I needed a more aggressive helical to get them to tune, also noticed a 4 fletch arrow helped with that setup!

Both of those are solid broadheads! I’d love to know what 2 blade broadheads you were using, stay tuned for 3-4 fletch…😉😉

Have you shot any releases other than the UV button? I’d love to know your thoughts 🤔💭

I shot the Stan button for a long time! But there are some great options out there for a release!

A one percent offset should be fine for 99% of the shooters 99% of the time. There are some odd senarios occasionally that a more aggressive offset/helical may produce a benefit for that specific situation. Paper tuning your bow is the key!

Did you notice any audible differences between the helical?
@MADDHunts3 ай бұрын
Full transparency I didn’t really pay attention to the sound of them… however nothing stood out either way! So I would definitely say it wasn’t a big enough difference to be noticeable! But I didn’t pay super close attention either

Have to do a 4 vane helical lol

Welcome to physics 101 everybody! The bigger the front in diameter, the more control the back needs to have (a really high FOC can compensate a bit). Watch a true pro like John Dudley when he shot 70m with every popular offset/helical, left, right etc. and put them all in a 5" square.

@@CouesSlyr awe, somebody wasn't positive and had disagreement with you? They must be a keyboard warrior huh? Very good scientific argument though, I'll give you that 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🙄

A lot of guys have a lot of different opinions, the biggest thing we’ve learned is that most guys aren’t actually working off of facts, just off of something they’ve seen and they’ve never put it to the test themselves! People need to form their own opinions rather than just taking everything someone else says as doctrine… John Dudley is a great shooter, but form your own opinion is all we’re trying to push!
@MADDHunts3 ай бұрын
His findings is basically the exact same thing anyway😂, various setups and groups them all the same at 70m… the setup doesn’t matter if you can truly shoot!!

If you do a test with broadheads, use a big 2 blade, a short ferrel 3 blade will usually fly really well like a mechanical.
@MADDHuntsАй бұрын
That’s valid! Is there a broadhead in particular you’d like to see?
@davidgeske4798Ай бұрын
@ personally no. I do my testing with some old discontinued Solid Legend broadheads (similar to a Slick Trick 2 blade Revival). Then I shoot a Ramcat 3 blade. Could try something like a big magnus stinger. Get a head like that to fly and then bow should be tuned!

Never use plastic been shooting 4” feathers since my 40 years of bow hunting nothing stabilizes better than feathers for broad heads do birds have plastic feathers 😮
@MADDHunts3 ай бұрын
I'll have to test that out! Do you use them with a specific type of broadhead?
@bulzeye73 ай бұрын
Yes, 100% true but then the drawback is that feathers are loud and slow. Maybe MADD Hunts can test that?
