Shooting Bank B - Nikon Z8 Settings for photographing birds in the forest

This is the second in my shooting bank setup series for the Nikon Z8 after firmware 2.0 . In this video we will look at my photo settings utilized in Shooting Bank B for photographing birds in a forest setting. The next video in this series will be on the Video setting I use for Video Bank B. This video will cover my settings as well as instruction on how to use them effectively. Its a long but thorough video with tons on information to help you get the most out of your Nikon Z8 in the forest photographing owls and songbirds. This video is a deep dive into the Nikon Z8 shooting banks and how I use them as a hybrid (photo/video) shooter for wildlife and landscape. This video gives a great overview of how these setting work and how best to set them up so they make sense for both photos and videos. These setting take advantage of all the latest updates from Firmware 2.0, including bird subject detection. We also look at how I use the I menu to access these settings and then we will take a deep dive into my Shooting Bank B high quality photography in the woods. This is part 2 Shooting Bank B-Photos.

Learning here I am a D500 guy switching to Z8 and found it to be pretty discoraging My girl friend was shooting a D7500 so yes want to keep things like it was with DSLR and when time permits I might try a few things. Right now what you are talking about makes sens to me Thank you

Any chance you can do a vs between the AFS 180-400 f4 and the Z mount 400 f.4.5? That would be awesome. I'm wondering how the olde 180-400 f4 would do with the Z8? It's supposed to have excellent optics and has the built in 1.4 TC. Thank you!!

Unfortunately i don't currently have access to either lens. For me it would be the decision between lightweight vs versatility. My 200-500 performs much better on the Z8 than my d500 so I would be pretty confident the 180-400 will perform exceptionally well on the Z8 too. So prime vs zoom. I use to only shoot primes but after 8 years of shooting a zoom it would be really tough to go back especially with that built in teleconverter.

Hi Gilles I was going to suggest watching the Bank B video. I think it is more similar to a dslr setup than the Bank A. Get it set and try and shoot as much as possible before hand if you are heading on a trip. i am Glad these videos are helping you out. cheers
