@@RJMHuntingAustralia Bet those thermal scopes cost a pretty penny.Doing your own reloads im assuming ammo prices in this day and age is hard hit to the wallet..Had an old .308 back 20 years ago and those were the glory days factory ammo under $20 a box of 20 and military surplus ammo everywhere and tons of it $6 a box of 20 but thats all dried up long gone then did my own reloads ar2206 powder with 150 grain hollow points and ballistic tips..Ammo prices nowdays are a joke costs a fortune to pull the trigger all night
@RJMHuntingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
You've hit the nail on the head mate. Best part of $2 per round these days, a little cheaper if you reload. Thermal is worth every cent but makes for a unhealthy bank balance and requires a very forgiving wife. 😉

@@RJMHuntingAustralia Ive seen some of the prices for thermals and that will give most people nightmares but they are great gear.If you are doing reloads i reccommend those 150 grain ballistic tips..Whew they stop them cold in there tracks they will not let you down as i no experience with the same round they are a bit pricey but anything to do with firearms nowdays usually are no surprise there.The only problems with reloads is if your time poor that will be a bugger it takes time reload about 50 rounds at a time as ive done.Ive dropped piggies around the 150kg mark and never had to shoot twice with those ballistic tips they are just the bees knees of projectiles grab yourself a box and they will drop the biggest piggies they will go down like a beer at octoberfest..Look forward to the next video

You probably already know that every rifle likes a different powder charge to get the right velocity. That said, I'm running TrailBoss up with the Hornady Sub-x 190gr projectiles at 1060fps in my 308. Played around with powder charges and seating depths to get the desired velocities and accuracy.

@RJMHuntingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Because they are usually a heavier bullet travelling much slower, their flight trajectory is very curved. This makes it more difficult to shoot at longer distances as you need to factor in how much the bullet will drop compared to where you are aiming. Supersonic are louder but travel much faster, have a flatter trajectory and are more explosive on impact. Hope this makes sense mate. 👍

Not illegal, just a very complex process of getting approval for one. Then there is the added expense of the purchase. A decent semi auto in Australia cost approximately $6000 and we are very limited with choice. As much as I would love one, I just don't know if it's worth the hassle. 😪

RJM are you reloading the sub-sonics or can you buy factory in .308 cal. I would have thought as licensed feral pest controllers you and Nathan should qualify for suppressors?
@RJMHuntingAustralia Жыл бұрын
We both run suppressors on the majority of our rifles under permit. I reload the 308 subs. Hornady Sub-x 190gr projectiles and TrailBoss powder

Your videos are stunning mate. Is that a remington 700 action/barrel?

Thanks mate. You are correct. Rem 700 action/barrel in an MDT HNT26 stock. 👌

@@RJMHuntingAustralia lol, more than a few times. It isn't uncommon with all these young gamers who get jacked up on war games at home, then spend a day watching shooting vids on KZbin then SHAZAM!!! Instant "Tactical-berry, Range Warrior!!!" Used to be here in WV, USA, sporting a scope "scar" just meant that someone has gotten themselves a new rifle, new optics, larger caliber, and popped themselves trying to zero it at 100yds in the back yard. Nowadays, the "Tactical-berrys" take their KZbin study straight to the field, and then on to the Optometrist in need of repair to their orbital socket lol

Awesome shooting mate, I hunt some close quarters blocks and am curious how the subs will go unsurpressed?
@RJMHuntingAustralia2 жыл бұрын
Only one way to find out. Be much quieter than supers. Just need a safe backdrop, especially on smaller game.
@rouseyjones3312 жыл бұрын
@@RJMHuntingAustralia yeah I'm very big on safety and target back drop , as I'm also teaching my kids to hunt. Especially on the smaller blocks with houses around etc

Cool. Always a bit tricky on those smaller blocks getting the perfect angle for a safe shot.

I bet the best Adrenalin fix is when the pigs are on the run.....the moving shots with background claret were just like a Rambo movie.....total chaos ! Another great job of thinning them pigs out......I wonder do the land owners let you keep a pig or two for barbecues and Christmas time ?
@RJMHuntingAustralia Жыл бұрын
Running shot's definitely get the heart pumping. Most farmers are happy for us to take whatever we want however disease is prevalent so pigs are rarely taken for consumption.

@@RJMHuntingAustralia Ive just been reading up on feral pigs in NSW they are dirtier and more harmful than rats..... by the sound of it theres not a single part of a wild pigs body where a parasite or species of tape worm, flea or tick living within it.....wow forget the pork !

Just curious, the subsonic 308 seem pretty effective, is there a reason you don't run them the whole time? Availability of ammunition?
@RJMHuntingAustralia Жыл бұрын
Mainly due to bullet drop. Out to say 70m you can pretty much aim and shoot. Past that the heavy projectile drops dramatically thus making it more difficult to hit the target without making the necessary calculations. Lighter bullets and faster loads require minimal adjustment (hold over) out at much further distances.

@@RJMHuntingAustralia ok perfect, understand now :-)
