The guy at 1:00 looked really surprised, but in reality, I don't think he really did anything wrong. Obviously he missed something if there was still a round chambered, but he kept the gun pointed downrange and "dry fired" (though apparently not) the gun to make sure it was cleared, which is exactly the instructions that the range masters where I shoot give to people.
@ogkandyteeff2 жыл бұрын
I've had something very similar happen with a 10/22. I pulled the mag out, charged it to clear, and pulled the trigger in a safe direction. Prob had the same surprised face when it actually shot. You have to break all the firearm safety rules in order for someone to get hurt.
@smileyeagle10212 жыл бұрын
@@ogkandyteeff that I've met so many people who have had similar experiences is probably why it is part of most safety instructions to always do a test dry fire in a safe direction after clearing the gun to make sure you cleared it properly.
@chaddodson14812 жыл бұрын
This is why I charge twice and inspect chamber after. But I would say what he did was acceptable. Most important part is the dry fire downrange. I wonder if he just barely didn't charge fully to the rear so it didn't eject

I have spoken with many people over the last twenty years who have accidently shot themselves, usually in the lower extremities. Typically this happens when presenting the weapon or most often in the process of reholstering. This can be caused from poorly designed holsters, faulty trigger control, and unsafe techniques. Reholstering should be slow and it would be smart to look at your holster when you do it. I know tactical trainers will disagree with that statement, but in reality you will not reholster a handgun as long as you feel threatened (transition might be an acception- typically it is better to get your weapon back in the fight than transition). People are stating these people are unskilled. I disagree, there are some very well trained and talented shooters in these competitions. They are pushing their limits, for speed, to occasional failure. In a real fight people will be typically be more mindful of cover than speed, if it is not a bad breath encounter. Weapons are dangerous, that is the point. Be safe.

One reason airsoft is such a great tool. With airsoft you can push to your max without fear of hurting anyone if you mess up. I always do airsoft drills of any technique before I do it with a firearm. Plus airsoft is better than dry firing and you can get a lot of repetitions in.
@azazelRising724 жыл бұрын
I don't think any tactical trainers would disagree with that statement. I have had a considerable amount of instruction, and a very common sentiment is that no gunfights have ever been won by holstering a weapon. They all preach to do it slow, and to do it right, and I see them all look at their holsters every (EVERY) time.

@keepironman143 жыл бұрын
It wasn't a weapon malfunction, it was a ammo based issue. Looks like Hangfire. Notice the lack of recoil, the slide staying completely forward, and the lack of ejection. Also in this type of speed challenge the mag in the gun would be empty, only the 1 chambered round, the round actually goes off as he is inserting a loaded mag, with the slide forward. The first pop is actually his primer, then bang is the powder going off late. Probably a bad reloaded casing. (Reloading old casing is cheaper if you have a way to recover and melt your bullets, so it's logical these guys had a bunch of reloaded rounds.

I watched that one a couple times and my first thought was,,,cheap holster. I figured he was trying to place the pistol in a holster that was cheap and poorly designed. It wasn't held open sufficiently and the trigger got caught on either the outside or inside edge.

2:58 luckily never happened to me but when we trained with Smith & Wesson M&P's at the police academy me as well as other recruits experienced our M&P loading itself by releasing it's slide when we did a magazine change. We never knew how this happened since we all followed protocol and had excellent trigger and slide release discipline. Fun fact: The S&W M&P for the Belgian federal police has an extra ambidextrous manual safety installed because our government exclusively asked for it.

@jakegarrett81093 жыл бұрын
@John Doe I’ve done this many times with 12ga pump actions, I’ve also never had to replace a gun part. Cheaper skeet shells apparently do this the most or if the firearm gets slightly rusty (my dad can take so little care of a firearm that a revolver ceases to function, and no I’m not making that up). Anyways they sometimes lock up and need to be beat open, there’s no other way to open it. You can’t take the barrel off until the action is opened, so not much you can do, so give it a love tap on the ground and then pile drive slam it if needed (more impact results in higher instantaneous impulse which actually causes it to free up easier resulting in less force applied overall if you can control the hit into the ground), however a Mosberg Maverick is a very durable shotgun and nearly impossible to damage and this is gentle compared to what it would handle since the compressive force is inline with the screw and the polymer stock is more than sufficiently thick. Standard procedure for youth skeet shooting, especially since children don’t have super arm strength occasionally if the shells get a little stuck it’s the easy way even a kid can do properly.

Ya. A few of the people clearly didnt hit the trigger and the gun just popped from being lightly jostled. I shoot stock triggers in all my guns. If you cant shoot well with a heavy trigger, your not gonna get much better with a light one
@anthonymilano92334 жыл бұрын
@ArchAingeal a handfull of them didnt. The guy holstering, the guy reloading, and at least one that just didnt sear up after the shot. I never understood the compulsion to lighten everything so much. I once saw a home made "sniper" rifle in the shop with a 5 ounce trigger pull. Most dangerous thing i ever saw on a bolt gun. Look at it hard enough and it will go off. But when people try to get 1 pound or less on a semi, your just making a full auto firearm. Ive seen so many that just drop the hammer when they drop the slide then empty the mag right there. Its a pet peeve of mine.

Whoever edited made it video mention in the cue cards that these people did nothing wrong. Two guys had slam fires, one guys gun flew apart, and anothers went of when he holstered it. Which is why I like hammered DASA guns. Even if you get crap in the trigger as long as you put your thumb on the Hammer as you holster you'll feel it move. At least normally. Under the stress of a competition who knows.

Gregory Lum you don’t understand what he’s saying. When holstering a DASA gun with an exposed hammer you can leave the hammer forward with a round in the chamber while putting pressure on the hammer with your thumb as it is holstered. As long as the hammer can’t move backwards the gun can’t be fired.
