When I started shooting film (again) in 2008, I got a few boxes of kodak 400VC 220. It was my absolute favorite film. I've been saving them for special trips, but now that they are a decade+ expired, I shot a roll in Shenandoah Nov 2020 and they just look "thin" now.

Shanghai GP3 is cooking fresh 220 btw. It was dicey at first, but their QC has really improved. I'd recommend xtol 1+3 for 16 minutes. My new favorite emulsion for the GW - love having 18 shots.
@RobbieMaynardCreates2 жыл бұрын
Interesting.. maybe I will give it a shot!
@jw483352 жыл бұрын
@@RobbieMaynardCreates If you do, just watch the highlights. It's a pretty contrasty film and has a tendency to blow things out, hence the xtol dilution. The best comparison I can think of is that it's like a 100 speed Pan F+, so I treat it with the same contrast-reducing workflow. Everything else about the emulsion is great - end result looks like trix once you tame the contrast. Well worth it IMHO to have a supply of fresh 220. They also have sheet film now- 4x5 100 sheets for $32!
