Loved this one with the phone box so much , i had to have a go at it myself while staying in Linicro on Skye at the end of August 2022 . Pleased to say my attempt came out well enough to make Star Photo in the Glasgow Times newspaper . Thanks for all your inspiration Marcus . It was quite an effort mind you as i was getting eaten alive by the midge at the time . As well as that , i'd been hanging around for about 40 mins waiting on a passing car , which didn't happen . I was amazed at this , as the road had been like Sauchiehall Street shortly before this , so i took things into my own hands and drove up and down the road 3 or 4 times myself in my own car to get the car light trails . Funny at the time but not while the midge were having a feast . Cheers again guys !!

On a non photographic note Marcus.... I wouldn't say too much about the lack of traffic and beautiful scenery up there. We liked telling people how lucky we are down here in Pembrokeshire and now with everyone having an excuse for working from home the county is full of second homes belonging to wealthy visitors. Young people born in the area are finding it almost impossible to buy a home. Anyways, a nice image of the phone and it was nice to see an RB67 adorning the desk. The RB67 Pro S was my first medium format camera system. Great show.

Liked the phone box shoot (with the light trails). I'd have gone for Harry's edit of the lighthouse and ... I also love Kase magnetic filters but I use the Wolverine circular filters with the magnetic step down rings so I only need one size filters (77mm for me but there are 82mm too if you prefer). They are much smaller, lighter and easily packed for a hike. I have 6 filters in the tiny filter case they provide. Plus you can put these on / off with gloves on !

Great show! I must, however, point the fact that Marcus had a different photo on Lightroom from the other fellows. The one provided in the link was the one that Harry, Nick and Ben worked on - you can see that Marcus' photo has more water over the rocks on the foreground on the left and a small wave in the air on the far-away rocks in the middle of the photo; even the horizon is less wonky. I didn't noticed on the show, but it is striking when comparing it to my edited version. Additionally, this photo seems a bit shaken (there is even a bit of ghosting); Harry's, Nick's and Ben's edits didn't look as nice as Marcus' edit and this can be one of the contributing factors.

Looking at your segment as well as the video on the KASE website, I am wondering if there is any way to install/remove the Polarizer and the circular NDs without leaving major fingerprints on them. Do you happen to have some experience here?
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
Hi Joe. We’ve never experienced any issues with fingerprints on filters but if you have no fingernails to lever them off, then it could be more problematic to avoid fingerprints.

Well, that brought back a memory from a visit to Skye 30 years ago. Some friends and I had been climbing on the Cuillin and one day it rained so we decided to visit the Quiraing. We parked at the car park on the ridge and went exploring. When we left, there was a bright red phone box at the roadside just above the hairpin bend. When we returned a few hours later, the phone box had gone! Couldn't believe it. Just a small concrete square to mark the spot. Do you have some strange phone box stealing pixies up there on Skye?!!

As a long term Lee filter user I've never been particular convinced there were the best. option but they've served me pretty well for a significant number of years. After watching several videos, including yours, I thought I'd give Kase a go especially seeing they would take my Lee grads. However, on a recent trip to Iceland with quite challenging conditions I realised the Kase system has one huge flaw ... the use of step up rings. Not only are these fiddly and almost impossible to use in very cold weather, they also become very difficult to remove. I found to get the shot in almost every occasion I had to revert back my Lee system where I have an adapter for each filter thread. I find the thicker Lee adaptors much easier to handle and far easier to screw on if the conditions are somewhat challenging. Until Kase add different adapter sizes I'm sticking with Lee.Another great video by the way.
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
Hi John. Kase do 2 different sizes of adapter rings. You can leave these on each lens and use the Kase lens caps which means there is never any screwing and unscrewing of rings.
@Mrbluesplayer432 жыл бұрын
@@PhotographyOnline And there's my point, only two sizes.

One point that’s often claimed but technically incorrect. Polarisers can be used at the front or the back. There is no technical advantage being placed at the back believe me we tested this exhaustively at Panavision with numerous lenses and setups. Ordinarily polarisers in cinematography are in the rear this was historically because of the matte box hood and using mattes (rarely used these days) it’s also where split diopters were used. However in cinematography we also use clip on matte boxes so the filter holder has to have the polariser at the front.
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
Hi Jeff. You’ve misunderstood our comment about this. We didn’t say polarisers we’re better/worse at the front. Our comment was referring to the Lee filter system which has a design flaw. Their polariser is mounted at the front but is not light sealed - meaning it is easy to get unwanted reflections off the back of the filter. Hope that makes sense.

What is this yet another free filter kit from Kase a good review oh my what a surprise.Yes I bought a magnetic pro circular set I fell for the reviews and wish I did not. THEY FALL OFF. I no longer trust these reviews on you tube...........Marcus the phone box section was excellent...........
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
Hi Barry. Sorry to hear you experienced issues with filters falling off. We’ve never found this to be an issue. In fact, we’re not even sure how it’s possible for a magnetic filter to fall off, but clearly it did for you. This feature wasn’t paid for or sponsored so it was just our truthful view based on experience. Glad you liked the phone box feature. Thanks for watching
@barry10ish2 жыл бұрын
I promise you they do come off but on reflection I should have used come rather than fall as you are right they will not just fall off. Please allow me to give you a couple of examples , I received my filters in its lovely leather pouch and was over the moon as time was tight I went to the fields close to where I live to try them and they ,re OK . Now when I got home to find the lens cap was gone from the lens as I did not go far luckily I found it. I use a Black Rapid strap and as I was walking the lens was brushing my leg and it was knocked off. On another time I went to Dartmoor to photograph the packhorse bridge at Hisley I sat on one of the rustic benches to take in just one of the amazing places I can get to where I live after attaching the lens I put the camera down on the seat now as the quick release plate was attached to the camera it tilted the lens bringing the front part where the lens cap is touching the seat and that was enough to flip the cap off. This is something I had to find out for myself and I was lucky it cost me nothing but Kase are giving these free kits to so many You Tube Vloggers who ask that you subscribe to there channel you owe it to your subscribers that if you see this to be truthful.
@PhotographyOnline2 жыл бұрын
@@barry10ish to be fair Barry, both your incidents seem to be user error rather than a design flaw with Kase. I would suggest ditching the camera strap if your camera is knocking against your leg.
@barry10ish2 жыл бұрын
Why so defensive of Kase are you sure you do not get free filters. As for the comment about ditching the Black Rapid strap I expect better from you at Photography online and I did not say it was knocking my leg I said it was brushing it and it should not have come off I paid £270.00 for a set of kase filters I no longer use I have returned to threaded ones.
