Shooting inspiring low angle images of Cheetah using MF Assist / AF Peaking tips and tricks

Second in the Mara Diaries series is a technique video showing how I shot a tough low angle picture of a Cheetah through the long grass in the Mara. The point is to show you how to think out of the box to take something different, and my thought process for going about it. So after a field video you will get a podcast style audio review of my favourite pics and the tech info I used to shoot them! Take a look anyway, you will enjoy!

Great shots Andy, I love Cheetahs, 👍🏻. I have a shot of one that I took in Tanzania a few years ago as my laptops desktop image and on my website home page. It’s a pretty standard shot not as creative as yours but it’s still one of my favourites.

Great images Andy. Always love a low angle shot. Often difficult from a safari vehicle. I tried the same technique with lion some time ago - quite tricky to get a good image and didn’t manage anything close to yours. Also tried laying on the vehicle floor with door open for leopard. And where allowed out of the vehicle for wild dogs and cheetah - but not lion though😂

I'm against having the door open as I have seen how it affects the wildlife and thankfully this is now banned in the Mara and hopefully other places.

Very nice pictures and suggestions. Is there a reason why you’ve used the remote shutter instead of perhaps using the camera app on your phone to connect to the camera in order to focus and shoot? Thank you Greetings from Brazil (come photograph our jaguars some day)

Reliability. I’ve had issues with Bluetooth connected devices. Freezes at the wrong times. More to go wrong. So I stay old skool. I’ve done jaguars many times my friend!
