my Sony A7R2 also has a similar feature where the camera will give me 2 pictures one crop and one original. I don't recall such features on my A6400. may be because my A7R2 has 40MP to do the cropping. and important thing is the subject is still in the center, so it knows where the crop.

I've attached it to the lens Fn button on the 12-100 F/4 I just got. Looking forward to giving it a whirl with my EM1 MkII. Cheers Andy.

Hi Andy, great video by the way. Just wondering, currently i have the 300mm F4 PRO and am getting the most out of it on every widlife shooting. I have been doing photgraphy for just over a year now so am still learning across the board. I was looking to either invest into the 150-400 f/4.5 int he next 6 months or so. Do you think it is worth taking the 150-600mm instead, having previously shot with the 300mm? I understand that it is a bit of difficult question to answer because there are many factors involved in this, but overall i am just looking for some insight and how to spend my money in the best way possible. I know you cannot go wrong with the 150-400, it is a cracking lens and have borrowed it a couple of times for usage. Absolutely phenomenal to be honest. Any thoughts on this would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks Andy - very useful! I've just set mine to subject selection lock - very useful when you have multiple faces in a frame for example but want the camera to track the same one permanently.

Back lit shorts are very popular with OM ambassadors It Obliterators any fine details the subject has to offer. This method has its place in photography And fits in with OM systems capabilities. But do you have to spend a shed load of money to get the same result as Andy I don’t think you do in fact I know you don’t. I have the greatest respect for Andy his style suits OM Systems down to the ground.

It’s not just ISO number. It’s how much camera sensor will have to compensate between 6400 iso and given lighting conditions. If you shoot dark football field on Friday night with 1/1000 SS with 6400 or 8000 iso you’ll see the camera struggles. If you expose your image to bright sky while shooting BIF, you’ll find unrecoverable shadows at iso 800!! Take it easy with your excitement. The camera is good but people should know it’s limitations..

So isn’t the digital teleconverter essentially the same as cropping the image to get the same view?? I’m not grasping the advantage other than the teleconverter lets you see your composition prior to taking the picture.

Thanks Andy great video the only thing is I didn’t buy a £6500 lens to have the detail Blown to bits with Back lite shots. This lens is so soft I had to resort to this method. Which I could have achieved with the 40 150mm with 1.4 converter. Thanks for getting me out of trouble that lens is now in the cupboard I’m back to using the 300 mm prime.

Awesome. I just tried this yesterday on a Bald Eagle nest that was 450 feet away on my 300/4 and was astonished at the results. I’d always dismissed “digital zoom” but this resulted in a couple of keepers!

I’ve just bought a new MacBook M3 (my 13yr old one finally died…it did me well and paid for itself ten fold…). I’ve been using my iPad Pro but of course PS for iPad doesn’t have denoise AI….so imaging my absolute joy at trying it for the first time yesterday on some wedding photos in RAW (the photos have already been processed and given to the happy couple)……it’s an absolute game changer for low light (especially inside a church where flash and shutter noise are a no no, I use a OM-D E1mkii nowadays after moving from Nikon…) I’m completely blown away by the sharpness and lack of noise, and arty mono images look even better!…..this is the second piece of tech you have introduced me too Andy, the first being the digital teleconverter which I initially dismissed but after trying it because of your advice I have more tools in my arsenal (no…not THAT Arsenal 🤣) thanks Andy……away to Northumberland tomorrow and the Farnes again so new tools, new art to make!

Andy I use Olympus I’m an amateur it’s a bit of fun. But you’re a professional surely it would be better if you use Canon full frame with a much better iso performance. So much better in low light conditions.

I only just found your channel Andy, and I am very glad I did. This is golden. This video is the last push I needed to get an OM-1. I've been on the fence all the time because of the FF talk and the so called worse performance of a smaller sensor. Your images are stunning, and they truly motivate me to get out making pictures and spending time in nature. As for lenses. What is your primary lens? I can imagine either the 150-400 mm F/4.5 or the 300 mm F/4? Thanks for this video.

I recently added the Olympus 1.4x & 2.0x converters, never even thought of the digital converter. I also shoot fine JPEGs as standard as never really needed raw images for most of my end requirements. Just tested in on my EM-1 Mkiii - works brilliantly on the 90mm macro, the 100-400mm & the 40-150mm F4 Pro lens. Which can also use the 2 teleconverters in mentioned earlier.

Holy Crap! Those photos are freeking gorgeous. My OM-1 mark ii arrived yesterday. This isn't my first foray into MFT's but this time I am committed to figuring it out and making it work. If more of the KZbinrs talking about MFT had photos like yours, OM would be the dominate brand. Subscribed. Do you have any videos on how you develop your photos in photoshop?

Great energy and clear information. I’d dismissed this feature, thinking it was a simple crop. I tested myself and yes it’s terrific. I’m thinking this is a compute function in the camera that uses the sensor shift to interpolate (like the HD shot) followed by an in camera crop. Do you have any idea if this is what’s going on? Anyway, for static subjects in good light it is a freebie. Best tip I’ve had in years. Thanks. Oh btw, I assigned mine directly to the lens function button. It’s so fast to toggle. I frame and focus in 1X and then ‘zoom’ with the lens button. It’s sort of addictive. Hammers, eh? Oh well …
