Shooting Lomography 800 on the East Coast

I figured it was time to dive into the world of Lomography. I recently drove around to a few different parts of the East Coast, trying out the coveted (and expensive) film stock. Lomography 800 is a fantastic alternative to something like Kodak Portra 800 or Fuji Venus 800 (if you can find it). Hope you like the video!

There was this one time, I rewinded a film that has only 9 shot on it to put another type of film in my camera. That said, I ended up pulling the film out with an appropriate tool, shot the first 9 exposure at 1000 speed with my cap on the lens and then continuing the roll. It turn out like it never happened.

Great video, son! Did you notice any difference between 35mm and 120 format Lomography 800? I thought I remembered some internet post (possible conspiracy theory) that the 135 and 120 were actually from different source film stocks.

Hmmmmm it’s hard to say. Since I used the contax I was on auto for the exposure so I was kind of keeping it loose with the metering. The negatives seem to be a bit contrasty but That very well could be a thing! Now I’m going to look into this!

Does the dynamic range seem a little narrow to you, looking at the neg? In the example shots when the highlights are hot the shadows seem really dark. Maybe its the YT compression.
@loganguybaker
@loganguybaker 4 жыл бұрын
So, I actually was thinking this. I did meter for the highlights for most of the 120 shots and edited them more on the contrasty side. . But I’ve shot in the past (metering for shadows) when the dynamic range really shined. Also this was the first roll I’ve shot with the Contax so I’m getting used to the auto nature of it all.

@@loganguybaker I was tempted to sell mine, simply for the cash, and profit but I just can't do it! Even though it's a converted camera, is so underapprecaited because of the over hype about the panoramic feature. The fact that it's a dual format camera in every is what makes it so amazing! You were the one the helped me see that. Thanks for that. Now's it's my everyday camera. I'll sell everything else before I let it go. if you can get one again do it!

Sure thing! If I remember correctly, I metered the brightest spot in the image (the sun) then the darkest part (under the grass) and then split the difference. I was a little unsure having never shot directly at the sun like that.
