The range finder had you dial half an MOA left to account for what's known as spindrift. The rough is spinning with a right-hand twist. So as a result once it reaches terminal velocity it will begin to drift to the right. It has nothing to do with the earths rotation.

The half moa comes from bullet drift. The rotation of the bullet caused by the rifling in the barrel causes the bullet to drift either right or left depending on the rifling (either right hand or left hand twist) most rifles use right hand twist. Also rotation of the earth does effect long range shots. As viewed from Polaris (the North star) the earth rotates counter clockwise).

@@jared5862 Some influential factors are just so minute at anything under 500 yards the pulse in one's finger is much more of a problem. Not sure if his app in that range finder has all the ancillary factors giving the result or not.

You could have hit the right edge of the 6" plate on the first 2 shots with the 300 win mag because the gun was not level. From your crosshairs it looked like the gun was tilted to the left. Make sure the gun is level and get a scope or scope ring mounted level on that gun. It will really help at long range.

Thats a great vid. Some fine target practice there!! Great set up. Once its sighted for you another person will very rarely be able to shoot the exact same with it. Very subtle changes in grip and tilt will have an effect on accuracy.

KG the adjustment you made for your wind is because of the bullets rotation rounds will always drift a little do to the rotation of the round longer the shot the more drift you will have

The weather conditions and temperature figures into the equation, not to mention the Altitude. My 300 winchester magnum sighted in at 200 yards has a 30 inch drop at 500 yards in the hot summer time firing a 180 grain Sierra pro Hunter bullet at 3100 fps. You need to read the mirage waves to get the windage adjustments. It takes a lot of practice before you can get it right.
