Love my Kodiak Hunter, it is 45# and is a 58" bow, also vintage. mine is a joy to shoot and looks very good for as old as it is. What works for one person doesn't necessarily work for another but it sure helps to be as consistent as possible in however your style is. we are all built different, height, arm length, facial features, hand size etc. Focus and smooth release plus a consistent anchor point. I found years ago that I was shooting at the deer and not really picking a spot. I worked hard on shooting tiny targets up very very close and then out to twenty yards or more. my bow fishing and bow hunting got tremendously better from it. have shot critters on the ground between my feet because of the practice. you are doing fine, just keep at it and keep it fun.

Ooh a 1967, if you ever plan on selling that bow, I would be in the market for that!

Those last four groups would have produced a pile of deer. I have no doubt that when next year rolls around we are in for a deer hunt or two with the recurve bow. I sent you an email yesterday with my contact information. Just checking to see if I had the right email address. Your offer on the retro magazines was mighty generous and represent something I would often use. I have two of the 511 magazine that I will send along with the bow.

That sounds great Wayne, but for some reason I didn't get your email. You might have sent it to my old email. The one you need to send it to has my youtube channel name in it.

That’s the one I sent it to. Is it a gmail account? And is it case sensitive?

In my opinion there's nothing to complain about. shooting while talking is always difficult. The most important thing is shooting as often as possible, followed by steadily thinking about how to improve the skills But that's what you are doing. Greetings from Germany.....

Thank you for your comment. I was actually born in Germany.

Another good video! Makes me want to get into recurve again.

I laid down my recurve several years ago because I was drawing too much poundage, and it gave me a bad case of "tennis elbow" (tendonitis). I should have switched to a lighter draw weight and kept shooting. Instead I went to a compound bow, which was also very rewarding in it's own right.

Great shooting!!!!! The push pull is a great method so as to not collapse on the shot but dont over push pull as your bow arm will move to the side of your point of aim. Consistant pressure on your fingers and bow grip. Bow arm like a post, glued on to your target and a solid ancor like a compound bow . Get to your ancor everytime and settle in, focus with a clean release!!!
@CumberlandOutdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Brad. I'll concentrate on all of those aspects in the next session. The clean release, and anchor point are what I really need to work on.

Your welcome!!! Even an ancor to your cheek bone middle finger corner of mouth. Feather to nose contact works like a clicker.. Follow through till arrow hits target. Wish you all the best and a healthy New Year

Watch some of Tom clums archery videos, I watched his videos on forum and it helped me out a lot. On my recurve I put some string grove silencers from 3Rivers and it made it a lot quieter, I enjoy watching your videos keep it up! God bless

You're looking pretty good now. The only thing I can add right now is to keep your bow arm solid during the release and after. Think of it as a push-pull action. Push forward on the bow as you pull the string then when you release, that will help keep the forward tension on the bow. I see the bow moving around a bit when you release so just keep that bow solid. Keep up the good work! Very nice arrows too.

All helpful tips. I really appreciate it. I just need to make an effort to apply this to my shooting habits.

Hey Tom I was gonna suggest that you slow down. I’d like to see you pause a little more when you reach full draw. Also your right arm and elbow is a little low. I also think you’ll get a better release with a better tab. I thought I gave you a black widow tab if I didn’t I’ll give you one. Filming yourself sure shows what we do wrong. Hope to shoot some with you soon.

Have you tried squirrel hunting it's good practices I do and you even get lucky once in a while. Lol. But I only take ground shots. I get 10 or 12 squirrel a year. 🍻
@CumberlandOutdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
I have thought about it because I have shot a few with my compound bow in the past. Hitting one with a recurve would be quite the challenge for me, but very rewarding for sure!
@jessiegarcia84652 жыл бұрын
This is constructive slow down way more. Your bow arm moves alot. Set ur anchor point where ever its comfortable for u but be consistent with it from the time u pull back to the time u release is not even two seconds and you let go practice with three arrows shoot from ten yards. No further till consistency becomes natural im 65 been shooting for 55 years and i practice everyday still. Back and forth on yardage will cause inconsistencies. Quit trying to hard let it flow SLOW DOWN ,good video
@CumberlandOutdoorsman2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the advice. Slowing down has markedly helped me, and keeping my shooting arm solid is still something I'm working on.
