With percussion revolvers, it generally doesn't make economic sense to replace major parts like the barrel, cylinder, or frame. What will wear out will be the springs, pretty sure Wolff Springs could help with replacements. The action parts are tricky no matter what. VTI, DGW, Brownells could help with that. But i doubt it will ever be an issue.

FYI, I own a full Fluted Cylinder ASM 1860 Army and my cylinder off of my Uberti 1860 Army fits but does seem to be a bit on the loose side but still fires every round and cycles fine. Good video, I'm going shooting as soon as this snow stops and melts a bit, lol. Thank you.

I'm sure your gun originally had the standard 1860 grip and was changed out by the previous owner. But, I have seen pictures of COLT 1860's issued with 51 grips early in the war, COLT had to get the guns out to the army and used what parts were available.

@blackpowdershooter44 It seems like those were a combination 1851/1860. But it's the way they came. May not be clone correct, but I like it also.

@@blackpowdershooter44 true, it is absolutely beautiful here where I live and if you watch some of my KZbin videos where I shoot you can see just how awesome and beautiful it is, but when winter comes it pretty much rains almost every day here and some snow but I guess you don't get beautiful forest lands if we didn't have all the rain all winter., Lol.

I’ve had Cabela’s store bought wads contaminate my powder, BUT that was in the case when I left the gun loaded for a few days before firing. When I load with a wad and shoot right away I never have a problem with powder contamination.

Just wanted to give you some info. I own quite a few ASM revolvers. One problem with them was bad quality internals and soft metal especially with the cylinders. All mine I personally corrected the issues by custom fitting both Uberti and Pietta internals and hardening them after. Took a lot of work and time, but now they work and are timed properly. My 1860 I sent to Mike at Goon's Gun Works and he did a top job on it. In fact he posted photos stating it was the finest example of an ASM he had ever seen as it looks factory new do to proper care. One thing I have found is Uberti cylinders are an exact fit to ASM revolvers. Well... at least the Dragoons and the 1860, as I replaced the ASMs on both of mine to preserve the originals. Much harder steel. Pietta cylinders are too big and not authentic in size to the original Colts. Just FYI.

The grip can be period correct, in the beginning, some 1860 was produced with a 1851 grip, in brass an smaller. I am not so specialist for saying if they had the fluted cylinder or not... i thing you can easily find the response in USA.👍

Interesting that it has the wrong size 1851 grips fitted, I always fit the 1860 size grips to my 1851s! The small grips are a mystery to me, why they ever fitted such small grip to Colts I could never figure out, but that one shoots very well, it looks like it needs a stronger main spring to prevent the hammer bounce on firing, that will stop caps dropping in the action. As for parts, all action parts are so easy to make you do not need to buy them. Chris B.

These guns are technically .45 caliber. Funny how a .36 cal. is ,375 and a .38 cal. is .357. It's all backwards. But when Colt released it's first cartridge revolver in .451, they did,t call it a .44.
