Shooting While I'm Drunk (ft. James Bond)

In this episode, James Reeves is curious: How well does he shoot after he's been drinking? Since guns and booze don't mix, James uses drunk driver-simulation goggles to test it out. He also enlists the help of James Bond, an expert at drunk marksmanship, to test out this double tall order. The gents get tuxed up and use the new Ideal Conceal 9mm Cell Phone Gun ‪@IDEALCONCEAL-CELLPHONEPISTOL‬ and, of course, the Walther PPK. How do they do? The results may surprise you.

Back in the day, competition pistol shooters were known to have a drink or two to steady their nerves. One particular Russian was known to have such steady nerves that he would need to be helped to get to the firing line.

@@tfbtv I shot competitive skeet and trap for several decades and knew a far number of competitors who would drink a beer or two before a shoot off. I don’t know of anyone who was hammered and picked up his/her shotgun and went up to the firing line to shoot. That said I know of any number of shooters that had to much fun at the evening cocktail party and shot with a world class hangover myself included and in my case I generally a good score however I do know some shooters that could hit the broad side of a barn from the inside with a hangover but were almost superhuman in a shoot off if they’ve drank a beer 15 or 20 minutes before it was time for them to shoot.

Oh for f's sake, James. Just redo this thing over the course of one day. Shoot sober in the morning, then drunk in the afternoon. THEN we can see what you get. FWIW, almost blind drunk in Central Asia one Monday afternoon in 2005 in a parking lot I broke six Russian Standard bottles just emptied by myself and three other colleagues with a suppressed Makarov. Range was about 20 yards. No sights visible, just eyeballing over the top of the can. I distinctly recall hearing the clang of sheet metal of vehicles in the lot and tinkling of breaking glass as the bullets bounced around after hitting the bottles and the cheers of the guys in the formation as I busted them. I find the drunkenness helped me focus on just shooting. Was a nice farewell from those guys.

Of course you can shoot. The question is can you hit anything? I have a similar, but opposite conundrum. I can’t hit anything without some booze. Not because I’m a boozer, but due to a neurological disorder that gets worse as I age. Essential Tremor. Takes a shot of whisky to back it off enough to keep the sights on target. Which is really annoying, because I don’t like booze. Your test, (goggles) isn’t a good determination of the effects of alcohol.

@@Mad_Intalect Yea, those are actually a thing. Not something to aim for though as they also tend to die early having their liver giving up all hope of ever having a sober day. When we were young a friend of mine could be drunk to the degree he was unable to stand up straight. But when needed, such as convincing a bouncer that he wasn't the least bit drunk, he just switched it off for a while and you could have sworn that he hadn't had as much as a beer this last month. It was freaky as F... Then there was a business acquaintance, a Taiwanese businessman, who really liked his whiskey. He took a few of us to restaurant, only thing we had polished of more than a bottle of whiskey first. I was really drunk as was my work mates. The one who had drunk the most though was the Taiwanese businessman who did not walk in a straight line. He drove... My only defense for getting in that car was that I was drunk. Yea, weak, I know. Still I immediately regretted it as I saw him fumble with the keys. However he got the car started before I got out, so I made sure my safety belt was tight and secure and hoped for the best. Feeling the stress of knowing just how drunk the driver was I looked for everything that could be dangerous. Amazingly he drove perfect. At no time did me wander between the lines. At no time did he speed. He used turn signals and placed the car correctly all the times. He used the mirrors and never cut anyone off or crowded any other driver. Having seen him walk and seen him down glass after glass of whiskey it was surreal seeing him drive that well. Still I walked home from the restaurant rather than taking him up on the offered ride... Edit: Spelling. G D Autocorrect, you had one job...

I noticed your ear pro wasn’t in and I tried warning you. Your friends are mean for not saying something during the walk up to the hip shot.

The Fort Restaurant offers a whiskey flavored with gunpowder. I like the taste. Gunpowder flavored food was popular in the American trapping era.

Conceal cell phone gun? WTF? Anyway, good video. Very interesting. Definitely have no intention to shoot while drunk unless someone beaks into my home at night.
