This makes me smile. I miss my mom. She was a badass like yours. My dad died right before Christmas 2019. Little did we know that was our last Christmas. She bought me a gen 3 Vickers 19 (on accident lol) and treated herself to her first AR. She was so excited for me to teach her. We were about to build a range on her property. She died shortly after herself. RIP mom. I love you. Happy mother's day to all the mamas out there

In terms of practical pistol accuracy, your Mothers marksmanship is more than adequate. If (God forbid) she had to deal with a Goblin, be that a home intrusion or an outright attempted mugging, then being able to put the first two rounds in the X-ring will likely deal with the aforesaid Goblin. Dealing with recoil is simply a matter of training, practice and experience.

Have to say this one was a little tough to watch having lost my mom back in October. Not being able to call her on birthdays and now Mother’s Day really sucks. Definitely cherish the time with your loved ones. That aside, that’s an amazing choice of gift for your mom. Not going to lie, I’ve got a couple Maglula loaders myself…mostly for my M&P Shield Plus 9 PC, which has a really stiff mag. Even my neighbor who has the M&P 3.1 inch couldn’t hand load the last two rounds. And purple is my favorite color, but I opted for a black one. 😅 Your mom is awesome! What a great way to spend some quality time and help to keep her safe!

@@watariovids1645 Mine came with a 10-rnd mag and a 13-rnd mag. That 13 was a bear, and when it’s full, the mag doesn’t easily load into the gun and racking the slide is rough. I’ve heard it gets better with more use.

My mom got in a car accident only a few days before mother's day/bday and got her phone stolen out of her center console at the same time. When she called me from someone else's # and left a message, hearing the fear in her voice set me on a path like no other I'd ever experienced, to get to her as fast as possible. My mother is priceless, and I would try my best to stop any threat to her possible, but it's the ones out of our control that take the greatest toll. Thank God she's alive, and thank you James for a great review that may prove useful in the future.

Bought a 9mm EZ for my daughter. Found the grip safety was a little hit or miss for both of us. If she ever gets in a situation where it absolutely has to fire, this was unacceptable. I took a coil off the grip safety spring, and solved the problem. Great pistol!

It's internally hammer fired. Not striker. The grip safety is what makes it drop safe. So shitty pro tip. Deactivating your grip safety turns your EZ into a P320.

I was an instructor for many years, and the phenomenon where one person is taught solid fundamentals, and shoots the first couple rounds perfectly, and then they throw the rest of them off center, is a very real one. Usually it's an Up/Down pattern, and not a Left/Right one. Getting the student to "work through" the psychological impact can be difficult, but it can be overcome with continued observance of proper technique and regular practice. Acceptance of the fact that in order for the gun to work at all, it HAS to recoil is critical. Including your mom in this was a very nice thing to do, James. Warms the heart to see it.

I'm 41 and helped my mom in buying her first handgun ever last year. She also picked the .380ez after I took her to the range and rented one for her to try out. I don't know exactly what the heck she's doing with her grip but it's safe and she was pretty damned accurate for not having shot a handgun in probably 40yrs or more.

Great video. Your mom is great. Sorry to hear about your step-dad. This is the first mother's day without my mom. She passed away in September 2021 at the age of 98. Couple weeks later on Constitution Day I bought a 380 EZ myself. My reasons are many, I thought at the time it was a good starter pistol and would keep it even if I graduated to a Glock or something else so I could take one of my adult nieces or nephews to the range with me. I'm an Army Vet and I miss my old M16A1, and I had never trained with a handgun and had built up a phobia of them until half way through my CCW class in November 2020 (roughly 31 yrs after my last trip to a rifle range in the Army). Next time James, you'll have to take your mom to the 5.11 store.

The EZ series Shields are the perfect mom gun. I've sold lots of them to first time women gun buyers who lack strength in their hands, or older women with severe arthritis. It's a real game changer for people like them, and they can appreciate the features in the gun at the reasonable price-point. S&W really knocked it out of the park for mom's everywhere with those models. What a great son James is, totally heartwarming.

Why has Smith and wesson not done the obvious and released a line of shield EZ pistols with the EZ slide on the shield plus grip and have base model's to performance center with optic cut and threaded barrel, Surely they must have thought of this it's the best of both worlds giving an easy to use slide but without the grip safety frame safety and single stack magazine, Basically the shield plus just with the internal work done to make the slide easy to chamber.
