We are a couple of old Sr. Citizens that are working on a family project! We were hoping to take the pictures of our now existent adult children, and covert into sketch like drawings to then display sort of like in a time line way... so their children could see them at the different stages of their parents' lives... One of my best selling PNG's is something I created on canva (from scratch) just starting out. Since then, thanks to you, I have Inkscape and even purchased infinity designer. Now if I design anything on canva it is just the bare-bones and I finish everything in the other programs because I prefer selling SVGs now. Thankful for your help and tutorials. I am more of just a hobbyist. And you're right, Canva is absolute crap for SVG's.

If you're not using their Clipart or items and just want to design it their program I don't think it's an issue however if you're using all of your own stuff then you're better off just learning a new program in my opinion

There are so many videos online that are like 'How i got thousands of dollars in a month with Canva!' and all i can think is, 'if that's true, why on earth are you doing youtube?' It's so exploitative on both ends.

I agree. I like YT because I enjoy teaching people. Canva does have it's perks for quick generations of physical print flyers and things of that nature but Adobe Express can do those same things for me as well. Hoping this will open people's eyes or at the very least encourage people to learn a new skill this year. Thanks for the insights.

Don't use Canva elements in any of your projects. - With all the other websites out here that you can get elements from, why would you want to use the ones inside Canva. Upload your own images and continue creating. You can get images from Creative Fabrica - HungryJPG - Creative Market and others.

YES YES YES! I'm also a graphic designer, but love to support other designers. I CRINGE when I see a Canva file for sale! I have purchased one by mistake (my bad for not reading the full description: see SVG and assumed it was a true SVG!). I'm not a Canva user, so opened a free account, and to my dismay and chagrin, I would have needed a paid account. Everyone wants to be a designer, but doesn't want to learn how to REALLY make them!

Valid observation. I'm bringing it up because people who are looking to start out are getting fed misinformation about earning with Canva and are not being informed of the license concerns and customer conversions. I use AI by feeding my stuff into the system. Not everyone does that, and that's fine. It's a tool. Some people will abuse it just like people can read the TOU about Canva and choose to do what they're doing anyway. I read your comment as trying to elude to the fact that I'm untrustworthy based on other content on my channel. Basically, it is comparing one opinion against another and stating that everyone in the world should be against AI. The fact is AI isn't going away. Add it to your toolbox or don't- it's freedom of choice and expression. No need to slander my friend!

I didn't copy my comment so I'll attempt to summarize it as best I can. So, when you upload your own image to an AI generator they are currently still pulling from the main database loaded with copywritten data to modify that image. An AI image generator can't train off a single image. You are being misled if you think uploading your own image makes it ethical to profit off of. You are still profiting off the backs of millions of nameless artists, myself included... When you make the claim that it isn't going away, that is a very shortsighted and dismissive claim to make. It also ignores the nuance of the situation. Imagine if society had that attitude every time an unethical practice was put into place without regulation. There's a reason there are two lawsuits already against this tech and the EU is fighting to regulate it. Just google "Is profiting off AI art ethical"... I don't think it's slander to point out when someone with a public face is promoting unethical practices in their workflow. If anything you accusing me of slander tells me you are either uninformed yourself, or you know what goes into AI generators and you just don't want to listen to one of the people being exploited by this technology. I truly hope you change your mind some day and err on the side of creativity over profit. You have the power to help navigate the design community in a more ethical direction. In its current form, profiting from AI images is unethical. Maybe some day if they make a dataset of open source material that would not be the case, but right now many many artists are being hurt by this tech. Likewise, many people using it are also being bamboozled, for a number of reasons.
