I had a great time Rusty, looking forward to occupying my seat on the trailer at the next event. Speaking of, is there a web site for the facility that shows upcoming events?

Thanks for this video . I have one of these universal vises, too that I bought 40 years ago at auction -- no identification tag . I noticed that Adam Booth has one too . Thanks to FernandoP81 we now have identification . I'm a brand new subscriber to your channel ...... I have some catching-up to do !

Gary, over at his "Old Iron Machine Works" channel has a parts washer you may really like . it's a "small" Precision Metal Works unit that he picked up used ( not really affordable new for most shops, and not exactly compact). It's heated, water-based with considerably high pressure, but seems to do an outstanding job ! Being water-base, it leaves a light dusting of oxide when the parts dry, but that knocks off with no harm . It's not for everyone, but quite an impressive unit .

Always look forward to your vids Jay! Wish I could have been at the GOTL again this year but from the vids the new place may be too big for me to get around in. I popped a couple ritalin pills and kicked back for some ADHD... that vise is so cool, it wouldn't take very much smooth talk to convince a fella to buy something like that. Video suggestion... when you get a chance make a dedicated video showing the history of your shop, and give us an update on the status of your plans for it

Sure would be cool to see those monster engines from the Spraque added to that collection!
@bigun4475 жыл бұрын
Yes, it would. A pair of 63' bore X 12' stroke condensing engines producing 9 strokes a minute at full ahead output would be impressive. Have been to Vicksburg and seen the capstans, and remains of the paddlewheel. I built and still have a loosely modeled the Sprague, 5' long Radio Controlled working model and some barges.

@@bigun447 From what I have seen the engines were as of earlier this year laying in a pile down by the river. I sure hope they don't go to scrap!!!

You have to have an unbelievable amount of cruddy parts to wash to make the CRC smart washer worthwhile. Most people could throw out the dirty parts and buy new ones for less money. Anyone interested has already looked up the price, so no point in rehashing the obvious.. I think a larger ultrasonic cleaner would be more interesting and economical unless you are washing engine parts. Cool vise though.
@jtkilroy5 жыл бұрын
A larger ultrasonic cleaner would be neat, but I have never seen any bigger than lunch box sized that weren't huge money.
@barrygerbracht50775 жыл бұрын
@@jtkilroy I can get a 30L unit off amazon for $725 canadian. That is a sizeable unit for about 1/5 the price of the Smartwasher, and you don't need to spend $1000 on mats and ozzyjuice to use it. I've never used one though, so I don't know how well they work.
