Shop and Cook With Us!

We checked out a new store in our city and brought the camera along. Also, cooked a vegetarian meal and made 1/3 of it vegan! It is a great one.
1 can black beans
1 can corn
1 can tomato/chilies or just diced tomatoes
1 cup sour cream
1 cup salsa or picante sauce
2 cups cooked brown rice
1 cup shredded cheese of your choice
Mix together and add to a greased casserole dish.
Top with additional cheese and green onions.
Bake at 350 for 50 minutes.
Serve as is or with chips!

How gorgeous are those twirling hedge plants?! I was out walking today, looking at nature and thanking the Lord for all the beautiful gardens and trees in my neighbourhood. I took the literal time to smell the roses. Prayer is such a good mindful activity for the mind, body, and soul. As usual, love the video. So nice to see your mum in this production.

I loved the trip through the home decor store! I love those type places, but I get so overwhelmed in person with all the stuff and the people. It feels better just watching it through you guys! I made a chili last night and it came out really good. I also did not have corn. I almost put mung beans in it but I was really hungry so I just made it fast and ate 2 bowls. The tomatos were from my dad and his girlfriends garden and they were starting to go bad so I just wanted to make some thing good with them. if you need any help on vegan meals you can ask me any time. I'm from Perth Australia, the second most isolated city in the world.. Sarah i'm sure you can imagine what it's like when the big companies come to Perth. When Krispy Kreme came a few years ago, we had traffic going down the main road. It was the most successful Krispy Kreme launch since the company was founded in 1937. I definitely avoid these places for a few months!

We have an AT Home here where I live (Houston area). I must say yours was as tidy as can be. Ours tends to be very messy, people just toss things everywhere. They also have a lot of 50% off aisle... OMG they are just a hodge podge of messy shelves. But all in all it I want something specific, I go there and I can usually find it there for a decent price. I really love your videos! You give great tips about food planning and grocery shopping even for someone like me who is not blessed with children! I have health challenges that interfere with my daily living. Although I love to cook and grocery shop, my health issues can make it impossible for me to accomplish these tasks. Your tips about how you plan your meals and grocery shop for the month are awesome for someone like me who has limited energy and cannot shop on a weekly basis. I have started using your meal planning method and it has made life a lot easier and less stressful for me and my husband! My husband is wonderful but he hates grocery shopping and has been forced to do our shopping because I cannot. However, he loves shopping at our new Aldi’s and I do too! We are doing a monthly grocery haul at Aldi’s and next month, we are going to use the pick-up service at another local grocery store to get what we cannot at Aldi’s! LOL about the new stores being so crowded as soon as they're put in. My husband is from growing busy college town in Oklahoma, and it's the same way there! I think it's a similar atmosphere to your town. I used to joke that it was like the old computer game SimCity.... There would suddenly be a new road and new shopping center and be full of people, in like two seconds 😁 I'm from Maine. Things do not change here very often.

Love when your mom said "grocery shopping is the only place I get to spend money and not feel bad." That is kind of how I feel too. Everyone thinks I'm crazy when I tell them I enjoy grocery shopping and this is the same thing I tell them..lol. I also tell them I enjoy it because I am able to relax. I don't mind when my 13 year old daughter goes, but hate it when my husband goes because he absolutely hates it. :) When my daughter goes with me, we usually make it a mini date and go out for breakfast or lunch. We have a "music/art room." My husband is an artist who is still in college finishing his bachelor's but is able to teach art part-time while he finishes. So, he has a room which has all of his art supplies, but it also has several guitars and an amp in there. The mandolin stays in our sons room and the keyboard is in our daughter's room.

I was pretty overwhelmed the first time I went to At Home too. I love it now though. They have "flash sales" every week, located right at the front of the store. Whatever it is, it's usually at leadt 50% off. They have an awesome clearance section too. I've bought some awesome Christmas decorations too.

Get a friend to help you! Every time I am in one of those shops I help people build their vision. Last week I met a dad / daughter combo. Daughter just purchased her first home. After long chats, they stopped by my house. After I showed them around and they figured out I wasn't a creepy person, I am now teaching the daughter a bunch of quick, fun DIY'S that will save her $$$ and gain new skills and confidence.
