How frustrating to have a new freezer break that fast. I remember the year after my first child was born my in laws bought me a freezer for Christmas. I was so disappointed. Couldn't imagine what they thought I was going to do with it. But now....37 years later I'm so grateful for it. Her freezer that her in laws bought for her lasted 40 years! It was great when my kids were growing up and now during that pandemic has come in extra handy! I hope yours gets fixed and gives you years of service.

the company that sold you freezer or warranty should cover all that meat that was unthawed. take pictures and give them a receipt of all that beef. I worked at Lowes and they would give $ for that exact reason or the warranty company of the freezer should cover it.
@Karmacalifornia674 жыл бұрын
Maroxa Livesfree Lowes always gave a food allowance if it unthawed especially as much meat she had in that freezer. But she shouldn't be inconvenienced to have to try and cook everything. Some food doesn't do well if unthawed then cooked then refrozen unless you have one of those big freezer that freeze quickly so bacteria doesn't have time to get into the meat.

Put some dried ice or ice in the freezer to help keep the temp.
@curlybibliophagist24 жыл бұрын
@Maroxa Livesfree I don't think so. While she may be able to salvage some stuff, she still has lost value. What she planned as food for 6 months or whatever now needs to be used immediately and it is lesser quality because it lost temperature. She gave away roasts too. A food spoilage warranty comes when you buy an extended warranty and usually maxes out at $300, which is nothing compared to the cost of your food in your freezer.

Just wanted to share an incredibile recipie for a pasta sauce with you, it’s soooo good and very easy to make. You need equal parts of finely grated carrots ( the one part that is a bit annoying is the grating😄) and leek cut into fine rings. Let the leeks get transparent in a frying pan and then add the grated carrots and fry until softened. Season with soy sauce to taste, to get that saltiness and add cream. Let it all simmer for 15-20 minutes and just before taking the pan off the heat, add grated Parmesan cheese and stir. You won’t believe how tasty it is!

(I have made this in a crock pot too but not if it is frozen. ) when it is cooked to falling apart stage- way I do it is add chunky Veg. spaghetti sauce and 2 cans of green beans. Serve this over rice. Some just use diced tomatoes 2 reg size cans instead of the spaghetti sauce. I am not a stewed tomato fan.

You are correct. Freezers can’t be found right now. Our freezer did this a few weeks ago. We made a huge pot of soup and cooked everything we could. My husband is pretty handy and took the back off the freezer and a lizard had gotten into the fan on the back and that had stopped it from working. He got the dead lizard out of there. We cleaned it all out good after salvaging what we could. Plugged it back up and it is working good now. We bought some freezer sensors with a remote so we can keep a check on the temp. Praying it keeps on working until we can finally find a new one. This one is at least 25 years old. We keep it in our garage...so that’s how the lizard got in there.
