Listening to you talk as you walk makes me smile. Antiques are a language all their own - skating lamp, Betty lamp, foot warmer. Brings back wonderful memories of going to antique auctions with my parents when I was growing up. Taking a tin foot warmer to elementary school for show and tell! I love every video I’ve watched. And I’m glad you are in Ohio which is not far from where I live. I keep telling my husband to hang onto his wallet. Thank you, thank you for each video.

Bill has an amazing shop and is so full of knowledge and anxious to teach you about antiques. You won’t leave empty handed! He also let me fill two big bags with black walnuts, which I used to make the best stain! Thanks for the tour!

Ooh. Never thought of that. I have several black walnut trees in my yard!
@lindakuzak7067 Жыл бұрын
@@paulalim1476 You may want to check the internet for the best way to use the walnuts for stain. I just experimented as this was before KZbin! But, the stain is beautiful, gives wood a soft early look if that makes sense. I stored it in glass jars and over time sediment would settle in the bottom and I would use this as well. I remember boiling them and that’s all I can remember! Good luck!

The thing about the Primative shops you have in Ohio is that absolutely every single beautiful item is authentic whereas in England you get all kinds of reproduction pieces or items made to look old amongst the real antiques. I would go crazy if I were to enter one of these shops and want to buy everything! Can't tell you enough how much I am enjoying your videos. I am truly fascinated.
@Thecapeonthecorner Жыл бұрын
Pat, I'm so glad to have you watching all the way from England! Honestly, though, I am featuring Ohio shops that are known for carrying the real deal Antiques. There are plenty of places all across our country that are filled with reproductions. Reproductions have their place, too, in some instances when an authentic piece is just too pricey for the budget. The problem is when the reproductions are sold AND priced as if they are early pieces. Happy hunting!
