I love the shop math videos! Your explanations are super helpful for me since the last trig class I had was 45 years ago. I appreciate all the work you put into these videos!

G'day Oldenrusty. Thanks for watching and I'm glad you found the information useful. Many people fear Math, as they probably had negative experiences during their school years. I make these videos to help people and encourage them to have a crack at it. I appreciate the feedback mate. Cheers, Aaron.

Hello Graedon. I know the feeling lol 😂. I had to prove my math in CAD before publishing the video. Thanks for watching mate. Cheers, Aaron.

This is a tricky subject to present - but nicely done. Every machinist, professional or hobbyist, should become very familiar with trigonometry. It’s an essential tool.

Hi Stuart and thank you for the support. I agree with you, Trigonometry and Math for that matter are essential tools for all of us to have. As young man in high school I hated Math and therefore switched off in every class. It came back to haunt me in my adult life. Before becoming a school teacher in my mid 30’s, I had to go back to night school and re-learn it all. Hopefully I can document and pass on my limited knowledge before falling off the perch (so to speak). Cheers, Aaron.

G'day Aaron. Soon as you said shop math, my ears went all funny 😁 😅😊. Excellent video, & it works when demonstrating on the mill. Well done. Cheeky way, if you had setup on 4 holes, go back to one, then insert the 45 degree, & Bob's your uncle, hhhmmm maybe 😢😮😅 Ted

You did a great job on this video Aaron. I am glad that watched to the end. I think the Chihuahua's could do trig after watching it! How about cracking out the old slide rule for the next lesson!

G’day Steve. Thank you, you're too kind. Yes, that cheeky Chihuahua of mine certainly has a mind of his own. Sadly, he is old now (15) and most probably on borrowed time. Every day with him is a blessing. Now as for the slide rule, would you believe that I’ve never used one before. However, I do possess my father’s aluminium roofing slide rule to work out trusses etc… Cheers, Aaron.

Great clear video Aaron! Important tip for those who might also be in the engineering / drawing office as well as the shop: always set your calculator to degrees if you're using radians in the engineering office (it'll be the 'DEG'/'RAD' indicator on the display... Bit of trivia, 'GRAD' was an attempt to make a 'metric circle' with 400 grads to a circle, or 100 grads to a right angle... It never caught on but.)

G’day Adam. Thanks for the feedback mate. That was excellent tip regarding the calculator setting. I didn’t know that about the “Grad” setting. Thanks for sharing 👍🍻

I don't have DRO, CAD, nor the time and patience...I have a rotary table for my mill!

Hello and thanks for watching. Yes, I understand how you feel. A rotary table would do the job nicely. Hopefully these videos will help other who don’t have one or the other stuff I mention. On a side note, I love that Willy’s Jeep of yours with the 239 flat head V8 in it. Very nice 👍
