This is by far the prettiest work bench I've ever seen. The contrast with dark wood, those legs and the the tiny details. That thing is just awesome! I saw that dovetail in another video and was almost freaking out because it's so pretty. Interesting to see how it's made with the square mortise in the middle and that grained front board.

I really appreciate the artistic flourishes you incorporate into your work, but for those less experienced watching I have to comment on the legs. The reason the legs are square surfaced on bench designs such as yours is because they are a very integral and valuable component in the overall clamping utility of the bench as a whole. Although your turned legs make your bench, in part, a very wonderful piece of furniture, your have entirely negated their use as a clamping surface. Now many benches, and yours will no doubt be one of them, are as serviceable to their owners as they could ever want them to be, but anyone considering designing and building a bench for themselves should at least consider the above. Very nice work though, it's a lovely thing and I enjoyed watching.

Great video and bench, Brian! I missed the double dovetail detail in the blog. Your chair hold/prop is really helpful. @ 2:19 it looks like you're ripping a 8/4 piece of maple on the band saw and then took the pieces to the table saw. Could you explain that? Thanks for sharing.
