I was just watching your nightstand build, and your tool island right next to the bench caught my attention. As I rearrange my similarly-sized basement shop to try different layouts often, I was mapping out the layout of your shop to try some of your ideas. When that video ended, this shop tour video was right there, and it was useful and appreciated. I've been in the hobby for about 22 years, and your skills, techniques and furniture are impressive. I learn more by watching your videos than those of many of the big names.

Thanks for sharing your shop layout with us, Morgan! Tell me about the air cleaner you have attached to your ceiling! Do you find it makes a difference?

It's the WEN air filter from Amazon, for the price I think it works pretty well. I run it when I'm using the router or cleaning the shop and it definitely pulls alot of dust out of the air, the only problem I've run into is that this single unit is to small for my shop size. To get good results I would probably need one more of these, but for now I've been making this single unit work.

Hello Morgan.. Is the RIKON BAND SAW a great deal? I was looking at getting a 14" Axminster Band Saw last year but I changed my mind. I'm one of those ppl who has a one car garage., It's only about 16'x10' and with my Bench, Table saw and Jointer/Thicknesser, the drill Press, Mitre saw, sharpening station plus I do a little welding but I'm not expert there. I've just begun to take up a little metalwork on the side to see where it might take me. I started my own little workshop about 12 months ago and it's been really tough to get things sorted into areas but now I'm beginning to get there eventually.. LOL I can't for the life of me understand why it took this long to get it fixed up the way I want it. It's all new to me bcos I'm new to woodworking really. I've never set up a shop before which is probably why it's been in such a mess for the last year. I've decided to build some storage up high off the ground too. Now I'm being asked can I keep the lawnmower in there and all this paint and the table and chairs from the deck.. I try telling them it was supposed to be my space but they don't hear me. More and more crap finds its way in nowadays. I'm changing the locks and I'm getting a shed for all the others crap. The really funny thing is the garage was full of crap for 25 yrs. Nobody cleaned it out and when I say crap I mean utter garbage that ppl just opened the door and chucked all sorts of rubbish in there. ;Last year I paid for 3 skips and cleared it all out. Nobody ever paid it any mind while it was full of crap. It never got a 2nd thought bro until I cleaned it up and wanted to build my own workshop in there. Now they want to dump all the newer crap in there. LMAO U can't make this sh#t up man.. Apologies for ranting like this but it's taken too long to get the shop the way I need it to be. That's a great idea about the drill press near the workbench bcos I find myself not using it bcos it's over the other end and I don't want to walk to it.. haha! I'm bringing it round to the bench tomorrow 1st thing. I enjoyed the tour of ur shop Morgan. I love that Band Saw btw. I would love to own one but maybe when I really need it I will pick one up. I have to be more practical atm and i'M ABOUT TO REPURPOSE SOME OF MY CRAPPY TABLE SAW AND REBUILD IT BIGGER AND BETTER. I'm also putting the tilting mechanism on my own home build too. I cannot stand not having that on my saw. It makes the whole blade housing more stable being able to lock that bad boy down. Take it easy man and apologies for the longwinded comment. I seem to do this all the time though . I can't help it talking about woodworking and my shop issues.. LMAO..

My Rikon bandsaw is one of my favourite tool in my shop, it was the first $1000+ machine I bought and it's been running great ever since. I fully understand what you mean about the shop space, I have been having the same problem. For almost 10 years the garage was a junk pile or completely inaccessible, I spent a few months doing dump runs and getting it organized and all of a sudden it became a very desirable place for everyone else. I've used my layout to help "discourage" those other uses for now., you'll still get stuff stacked on your workbench but that's pretty easy to clean off.

I love my rikon tools, they've all worked really well, especially my bandsaw. The best part about them is that if you buy them from Lee Valley you can easily return it if you don't like it, unlike every other brand of machinery.
