I am still waiting for the answer to the title question... You did not give it... I am not american and I will tell you that I the worst thing that ever happend to european woodworking is a chipboard... and you are using it... It is a total shit material and should be banned! Every american kitchen kabinet build video I have ever seen uses plywood whicj is virtually undestructable, and if you are working with chipboard you have to be very carefull not to sweat because one drop of water will destroy material... So if you wuld like to speak in general, as you started, european furniture is not better than american, but I realy do not like generalizing....

As you do not like generalizing yourself, I want you to know that there is chip board and there is chip board. The range of quality is huge. And it really does have it’s purpose as it is much more stable, in the sense of warping from moisture that is in the air. If you know how and when to use it it’s unbeatable but I see your point: If You’re a DIYer you cant just screw them together and let the edge show or leave untreated. It’s all about how and when you use it.

You don't need to do chamfers or rounded corners in a project. They are generally overused. Don't know what you are on about, but if you think a project needs chamfers and roundovers, you are not a good carpenter.
