Two Tommy Bahama nightstands. We were about to buy them new at the store, when I found them second hand on Marketplace. Saved us $1000!

I found a gorgeous Domus teak hanging lamp from the 1960s at the flea market for €35, but it did need some repairs.

My all time favorite secondhand piece was a very badly damaged and stained solid wood two tiered small side table with a dovetail drawer. It was marked from Boston but I couldn’t read the maker and it had turned stacked ball legs. I sanded that thing down over and over until it was baby smooth. Then I only had to use a water based satin clear coat and it was amazing! I like to just run my hand over the wood to feel how smooth it is. The odor was also removed by the sanding. It had an oil odor i think bc it was used in a garage. But it was sanded down thoroughly by me. Then I replaced the drawer pull with one I had from another project. It’s my most amazing finished second hand piece and the reason I love wood. You can really bring it back to life. And Julie it’s why I started watching your channel. I was amazed at your furniture transformations. 👏🏻🥰❤️

@@youbetcha108 Wow, that sounds so unique and cool!! :) Tell me, have you since invested in any equipment, such as a sander or paint gun?? Like you, one of the reasons I subscribe to Julie's videos is for her resourcefulness and complete lack of pretense about the art of thrifting. I subscribe to another vlogger, whos vids I enjoy, BUT find he can be SO PRISSY in regards to doing ANY projects yourself; always urging his viewers to "hire a contractor, so it looks great'---and this is even for the smallest projects, such as touching up the paint on an accent wall!! Julie's 'can-do' approach is refreshing, and somewhat unique for an accomplished Interior Designer. :)

So far, my top pick is an Ethan Allen Empire Style wood inlay half-moon shaped sofa/buffet sideboard table---retailing at $2300, which I snagged at my local "Mom and Pop" thrift store for $25. Mint condition too. :)

Julie-I've learned so much from you. We bought a new place recently and thanks to your videos on design & proportion & making accurate measurements, I was able to furnish over 95% of the home using thrifted and second hand items. Because of your teaching, they all fit together, flow well and look chic. I get many, many compliments on our place and people can't believe the whole house is thrifted! I bought signed art at the Habitat for Humanity RE store for less than $25!!

I have thrifted all my life! There are so many great pieces in my home, and they cost so little that I can rotate and change things around. Occasionally there is a more expensive, but unique piece that I splurge for. Since there is a basic style that I've stuck to throughout the years, there is a magic way it all comes together.

LOVE LOVE your thrifting video.....a woman after my own heart....your gallery wall turned out beautifully. Must share how I re-did almost my entire house----for under $500....we're talking big-ticket pieces....sofa/loveseat(new) heirloom desk, bookshelves and accent chairs Unique and high quality table lamps, original artwork....coffee and sofa tables...95% came from the same nearby 'Mom and Pop" thrift store, over a period of maybe 7 months. And like you, Julie, I go by instinct most of the time, and absolutely snag the cool baskets, even if I don't have a current use for them, as they are ideal for not only storage, but seasonal decor and even as a gifting vessel. You are so right about the retail prices of baskets being through the ceiling. Your baby is so beautiful....would love to see more thrifting videos here and there on your channel. xxx

I love this. Especially the watch tray! My best secondhand find was a pair of J.Crew jeans that became my favorite for years. Then found a cute Swedish dala horse at an estate sale. And a cool rope and leather basket. Ok, maybe too many to list!

Great Video Julie, i went to an Estate Sale this weekend, I bought some tools, some Electronics, and some Chinese soup bowls and spoons. My big score was on a $6 ziplock bag full of lapel pins, along with pins from Western Canada, US, London, and Beijing, was an Apollo 11 pin, and best of all a solid one ounce silver art piece (A Cross) by Robert Lee Morris.

I love thrift stores as well. I try once a week to at least donate something. I love to entertain and cook, so that’s my go to Dept. I too have found really cool artwork at unbelievable prices. Salvation Army gives you a coupon for 25% off when you donate or purchase anything. Another great video. Thank you Julie ❤

But the one I go to and I found a lot of house entertaining items there is the one on Tustin Avenue in the City of Orange. It’s at Tustin just a quarter block south of Chapman Avenue. No, but we barely use this bathroom to bathe so I’m not worried about steam/humidity issues warping the prints. Great point for those looking to install gallery walls in the bathroom! Canvas (no glass) is best for wet areas!
